I slumped onto my sofa, coffee in hand. I hadn't been out my house more than thirty minutes and with Scorpius, less than five! I can't imagine I gave much of an impression, it might be why Draco ended our interview so fast.
I sipped my coffee and thought about my life, what I was planning on doing if I didn't get the job with Draco. What I would do if I did get the job with Draco.
Could I really leave my tiny apartment behind to move in with Draco Malfoy of all people? Before I knew it, my coffee mug was empty, I rose slowly to make myself another when I heard the fireplace crackle and a small pop telling me someone had arrived.
I checked my clock, who was visiting me? I wasn't expecting anyone.
I opened my kitchen door and my face lit up, it was Harry!
I placed my cup onto the counter and went to hug my long-time friend. He hugged me tightly back.
"Harry!" I exclaimed happily!
"Y/N, it's been too long, how are you?" Harry held me at arms length to look me over. I blushed, his gaze always made me feel shy, I don't know why, it's just something it's always done.
"I'm great, I was just about to make a coffee, want one?" I asked as I turned back to my kettle.
"A cup of your tea would be amazing right now actually"
I turned to face him as I flicked on the kettle, "everything okay?" I asked slowly. He loves my cups of tea, but to make a point of it, meant something was wrong.
He shrugged half-heartedly, "oh I don't know" he sighed softly, "it's just so hard right now with Ginny"
I gulped and grabbed him a large mug, I placed the teabag in and poured the freshly boiled water on top, I absentmindedly twirled the bag whilst watching Harry intently.
Harry and Ginny had married straight after the war, they'd been so in love it was like out of a movie, they quickly had three beautiful children and moved high up in their careers. But like most couples who married so fast after the war, it didn't last. The euphoria from surviving soon dwindled and people realized they didn't actually want to be married. They'd married so fast purely because they were thankful to be alive.
They started divorce proceedings last week.
I watched as Harry buried his face into his hands, he ran his fingers through his unruly hair, making it stand on end even more.
I added a single spoon of sugar and placed it in front of him. He was sat on my kitchen island, his one foot on the floor whilst the other rested on the bar on the stool.
"Thanks, she's just told me she is leaving the country for fuck knows how long, to play Quidditch. How do I tell the kids? They're already upset that we're divorcing, but for her to take off like this. Ugh it's so fucking Ginny Weasley!" He slammed his fist onto the counter top and I jumped. I wasn't expecting such outburst from him.
"Sorry" he said, looking at me with sad eyes. I placed my hand onto his arm,
"Don't apologize Harry, she's a bitch, we all know that. She's only ever thought about herself, it wouldn't surprise me if.." I gasped and held my tongue between my teeth.
I have always been able to speak freely with Harry, but I felt now of all times, wouldn't be a very good time to bad mouth his soon-to-be ex wife.
"Go on" he prodded.
I bit my lower lip slightly, "well, it's just that, you know, you're Harry, the Harry Potter. We all said that she was only with you because you're you, and she wanted to have kids with you just so she could have ties with you forever" my words came out fast, as if saying them quicker would hurt less.
