We hadn't talked in a while.
Yet there you were.
Standing in front of me as though nothing had changed. But that'd be a lie.
We had both changed.
We both went to college.
We both had new friends.
We both had new lives.
Yet, we both looked the same. You smiled and I couldn't breathe.
You laughed and my knees went weak.I saw you from across the room.
You were talking to someone.
I couldn't help but stare.A smile gracing your features.
Bright on an otherwise dim night.
You were so beautiful. But you would never see me the same.
That's my curse.
To find the beauty in the best of things,
even when it's unrequited.
