The next day was traditional day at her college.
Inaaya had opted for a yellow and silver lehanga embellished in sequins with short sleeves opposed to her friends wearing sarees. She kept her neck bare and adorned her ears with floral long silver earrings and a similar bracelet on her wrist. She let her hair loose in soft curls and her look was complete with light makeup.
But she was hardly present at the ocassion.
All she was waiting was for the clock to strike seven so that she could leave the event and meet the guy who said he would wait for her outside the college. She clapped and hooted when Nikita won the best dressed woman and hummed along when a guy played guitar and a girl sang. She laughed at Alisha's jokes and rolled her eyes when someone tried to flirt with her. Yet nothing helped the uneasy feeling within her that made her feel cold and had her heart beating erratically. She constantly fidgeted with her bracelet, glanced at the time in her phone and got annoyed for the time was moving too slow for her liking.
Ayansh was going to leave for LA tomorrow and although it was just a matter of few days, he would return on 14th, she couldn't help or explain the restlessness she felt. As if on cue, her phone pinged and she was quick to check the message.
6:55 pm
I'm outside. An involuntary smile spread across her face and she waved her friends goodbye before making her way out of the auditorium and entering the elevator. After what felt like an eternity, she reached the ground floor. Carrying her lehanga as elegantly as possible, she strode towards the main gate, the silhouette of his back making her walk faster.
He turned around.
Like he could simply sense her coming closer. And that made her halt in her steps, her breath catching in her throat. A grin curves up his lips at her sight, looking so bright and dazzling against the dark of the night encasing them. She smiled, a soft one as she walked towards him, her heart beating in a calm and steady manner and he gazed at her with a sombre, enamored look, blinking slowly and taking a deep sigh when she reached him. He leaned forward to say something but she immediately took a step back making him frown and motioned towards the security guards who tried to avoid looking at them.
Ayansh's face flushed, his hand going to the nape of his neck and his lips thinning into a straight line. Inaaya chuckled quietly and beckoned him to walk towards the car. No sooner did they reach the car than she flung herself on him, her arms going around his torso and even though he was used to her sudden hugs, they never failed to reel him back.
"What happened?" His hands come around her waist, over her dupatta, making sure not to touch her skin so as not to make her uncomfortable even unintentionally.
Inaaya feels the tension uncoiling from her shoulders at the familiarity of the warmth he radiated and she felt herself relax. She shakes her head against the crook of his neck. "Nothing. I was just feeling a little weird." She replied, unable to put her feelings into words and felt him chuckle against her hair.
"I've something to brighten up your mood." Ayansh pulls away from the hug, his hands dangling loosely around her hips. "There's a wedding happening nearby." His eyes glimmer.
