With the holiday season coming to a close, Remy flew back to LA on New Years Eve to work with Adam Levine for his newest album. And while everyone was begging her to reschedule her flight for the next day, Remy was mildly relieved to have some time to herself. After completing the the album in record time, negotiating a salary with the label, and staying at home with her mom, she was ready to be back in the privacy of her own apartment. She was also excited because it meant that she had about 5 hours on the plane to start the books that Braeden had gotten her for Christmas.

Pulling up to the airport, Braeden looked extremely nervous. "Are you sure you don't want to stay for New Years Eve? I'll make sure Cole doesn't try and make you his midnight kiss like last year," he said jokingly yet in a sad tone.

Remy laughed, and Braeden couldn't help but admire the way her eyes squinted and her nose crinkled as she laughed. "No, that isn't why im leaving. I have some prep work to do before I meet with Maroon 5, and I just need to rest. Plus, you will see me in like 5 days."

Braeden snorted "That's a lifetime for us. I can't remember the last time we spent more than a day apart."

Remy thought back and realized that the two hadn't gone more than a few days without seeng each other. "It will be a new challenge for you," Remy said sarcastically, placing her hand on his shoulder. The two of them laughed.

After Braeden helped her with her luggage, he engulfed her in a warm hug. "Have a safe flight, read some books, and text me when you're back in Cali, alright?"

Remy saluted him. "Aye aye captain." The two laughed and hugged one last time before Remy made her way into the airport. She didn't turn around to wave like Braeden had hoped she would.

After many hours of reading The Miniaturist, Remy landed in LA. When she turned her phone on she immediately texted everyone to let them know she was safe.

R: I am back in the city of Angels. See u dummies soooooon xx

R: Oh btw happy new year, I love you all.

B: Glad to hear, Happy New Year Remy.

C: booooo come back home

D: miss yewwwwwwww

She giggled to herself as the texts came in, missing her friends just a bit more than she had anticipated. Getting back to her apartment, she began to unpack her clothes and started to work on some music for her upcoming meeting. However, she was interrupted by her phone ringing. As she scrambled from her work desk to her phone that was laying on her perfectly made bed, she missed whoever was calling. She then saw that she had 45 missed text messages and 12 missed calls. All from the band. Heart beating through her chest, she instantly dialed Braeden's phone number.

"FINALLY WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN," Braeden screamed through the phone.

"I'm sorry. I was working and I had the headphones on and you know how I am when I'm in the zone. Are you okay? What is going on?" Remy was nearly on the verge of tears, it must have been urgent to have everyone texting her and calling her frantically.

"Remy King, Wallows is going on their first headlining tour," Braeden said so happily that she could feel him smiling through the phone.

"Are you joking? If you're fucking with me right now I swear to god I'll fly back home to punch you in the gut."

"Rem, I'm not joking. We are going on tour and you're coming with us. I mean you have no choice, you are as much a part of Wallows as we are," he told her.

Remy's face was soaking wet, tears constantly streaming down her face. She was so proud of how far they had come, she knew they had been waiting for this moment. "Of course I will be there, are you insane? This is such a huge accomplishment I'm so proud of you guys."

She heard Braeden sniff on the other end of the line, and knew that she had caused him to cry. "Remy stop with the mushy shit its making me cry like a baby. But seriously, this isn't just the me and the guys. It is just as much us as it is you and Lydia. I can't believe I'm headlining a tour with my best friends."

Two days later and Remy was driving to a different studio to work with a band she had loved since she was a little kid. With the knowledge of knowing she would be going on tour, she felt even more confident than she had ever felt in her life. She walked into the studio with her head held high, and was greeted by Adam Levine as she entered.

"Wow, Remy it is so good to finally meet you. We all have such massive respect for your talent we're all ready and excited to work with you," he said gesturing to his band that was already in the booth. "I'm sorry if this is rude, but I didn't expect you to be so young," he told her. Rely laughed and nodded. "It's not rude, I get that a lot. Ready to get to work? I have a lot planned."

After four solid hours of work, the band decided to break for lunch. Forgetting her lunch in the rush of getting to the studio on time, Remy made her way to her car to grab a quick bite to eat. However, as she approached her car she saw a very familiar figure leaning up against it.

"Braeden? What the hell are you doing here? I thought your flight was on Friday?" She laughed giving him a hug. Even though it had been a few days, she had missed her best friend greatly.

"Well, Mom was practically begging for me to leave and my best friend was all the way in California, so I thought I'd just come early. Want to get lunch quickly? I'm hungry and want to hear how its going with Maroon 5."

The two drove together to lunch, catching up on what they had both missed, "Dude, you will never guess. Cole and Genessa kissed at midnight!" Braeden informed Remy. Remy choked on her drink out of sheer surprise. "You're kidding me. I can't believe Cole didn't tell me," she said a little hurt. She thought that she and Cole had a special bond but maybe he didn't feel the same way. Braeden began to laugh again, causing Remy to stare at him confused. "He didn't tell you because he blacked out and can't remember that he did it." Remy sighed disappointedly. "Of course he would black out and do the one thing he has been dreaming about for years." Now it was Braeden's turn to be confused. "You're telling me that Cole has a thing for Genessa? And no one knew." Remy looked at him with a surprised glance. "It is like, the most obvious thing in the world. I'm pretty sure that everyone knows, even if he didn't explicitly tell them. Oh shit, I have to get back to the studio. You can take my car home and pick me up after the session," she told him.

Five hours later, Braeden was outside the studio waiting for Remy. He could see in here eyes how tired she was, knowing she put her best foot forward for this session. She aimed to impress everyone, and was she extremely good at it. "How did it go today," Braeden asked her while helping her load her equipment into the car. "It was good. I'm just super tired," she told him, hopping into the passengers seat leaning her head up against the cool window. They drove home in silence, predominantly because Braeden saw that Remy couldn't keep her eyes open and wanted to let her rest. When they arrived at her apartment they unloaded the car and went up to her place. "Do you want to stay for dinner? I was planning on ordering in and watching a movie," she told him. He nodded, and pulled all of the menus of their favorite restaurants off the fridge. "Tonight is a celebration. We order whatever we want," he told her grinning.

Eating copious amounts of Indian food and drinking nearly 3 bottles of champagne, the two young adults were relaxed, watching a movie on the couch. "Why doesn't he just tell her he loves her. We can all see you love each other," Remy screamed at the TV. Braeden laughed. "Maybe, he's scared. That's a big deal," he said defending the character in the movie. "Just because people can see it on the outside doesn't mean the two of them can see it," Braeden further explained. Remy looked at him with a smile he felt in his heart. He hoped he would remember that feeling for the rest of his life. "Okay holy prophet, you make a great point," she told him.

They continued to watch the movie, cracking jokes where they felt necessary. "By the way, you have to sleep here tonight. I'm a too drunk to drive you home, and you don't have a car here. And you're drunk," she said pointing at him aggressively. "Okay, I'll take the couch," he told her. She shook her head at him. "No, we can share the bed. It's not like we didn't do it a week ago," she said getting up and making her way to her room.

"You're going to be the death of me, King," he mumbled under his breath following her to her bedroom.
