Chester wasn't happy that the plane was full on the way to Seattle. It meant there was someone else sitting in their row, and even though Mike had volunteered to sit in the dreaded middle seat, Chester was done with people. Their seats were towards the back of the plane, which meant that even though they'd been sitting at the Seattle airport for the better part of an hour, they still weren't moving.
Chester had his backpack on his seat, ready to sling it over his shoulder the moment they got out of the crunched space they were currently waiting in and out into the aisle. He was half bent over, his body tired of sitting, even though the flight from L.A. to Seattle was only a few hours. "Oh my god," he hissed to Mike, who was still sitting, his backpack on his lap as he patiently waited, or at least waited more patiently than Chester felt. "Why is this taking so long? I want to see Ryan," he whined, just as Mike's dark eyes flashed up at him. "Well, and Jay and Julien, too," Chester corrected. "But it's been weeks since they were at our place."
Weeks.
The reality was that it really hadn't been that long since the last time they'd seen their friends, when Ryan and Jason took little Julien home for good. But the separation this time around had felt extra hard, and it had Chester sucking on his piercing and silently - and not so silently - cursing everyone that was standing in the way between himself and Ryan Shuck. There was an explosive energy that had been building inside Chester all week as he and Mike waited to finally get back to Seattle to see their friends, and announce their engagement in person. It was going to be a surprise, and Chester couldn't wait. He'd already texted Ryan, letting him know their plane had landed, but now it was just a matter of waiting their turn.
There were still three rows in front of them that had to get off before they could, and Chester needed them to hurry up. His phone dinged, and he looked at it quickly; a smile scrolled across his face the moment he saw Ryan's name.
Ryan: Hurry your sexy ass up! Jay and Julien are getting fussy lol
Chester: I'm trying. We're surrounded by slow ass people! It's almost our turn and then I'm running out of this damn plane.
He stuck his phone in the pocket of his jeans, just as Mike announced it was almost their turn. Chester looked up to see the row in front of them stand up and get their things out of the overhead compartments, and then it really was their turn. "Come on, Sexy Boy," Chester whined again, nudging Mike's shoulder for him to stand up so they could jump out into the aisle the moment the guy in the seat next to them did.
"I'm coming, babe." Mike rolled his eyes indulgently. He was glad they didn't have anything other than their backpacks and one carry on. Waiting at baggage claim for more luggage after the amount of time they'd spent waiting on the plane would have been awful. There were precious few hours to spend in Seattle before they had to leave on Sunday to get back for the start of classes. He was just as ready to disembark and see their friends as Chester was, though he was handling it with a little more patience. "This is what happens when we buy tickets at the last minute. Sucky seats."
Chester didn't care. He just wanted to be off the plane. Before he could complain again, Mike was up, and scooting out into the aisle. Chester waited his turn as his fiance reached up for their carry-ons that were stowed away above their heads. Chester quickly took his, and a minute later they were slowly making their way down the center aisle. "I have to pee," he grumbled, just as the slow line picked up, and they were telling the stewardesses goodbye, and their feet finally touched the Seattle airport.
Chester didn't waste time. He grabbed Mike's hand to pull him along and quicken their pace. "Let's hurry. I need to pee and then I'll be ready to hug everyone." He was happy when Mike didn't object, and even chimed in that he'd be happy to stop in the men's room, too.
