Chapter Eight: Worlds Apart

Start from the beginning

"A dreamwalker." I said.

"Yeah. So I researched like you taught me. That's how I found Derek. And I saw them."

"Them?" Sam asked.

"Your mom," Jack looked at the Winchesters, then me. "and your dad. They're alive, but in danger."

"What kind of danger?" Sam asked.

"They're being......tortured somehow." Jack answered.

"I was so close to them. I could almost touch them, but Derek said the connection wasn't strong enough." Jack explained.

"You didn't burn him out?" I asked.

"No. I stopped. Derek wasn't strong enough, but he knew someone who was. Kaia, she's the key." Jack said to me.

"Okay, well, this has been a lovely catch-up. But let's head back to the Impala. It's almost dark out." I said as I looked at the setting sun.

"Good idea." Dean said and walked back to where the car was parked as the three of us followed, getting in the car and heading it start up.

"Jack." I looked at him once we got on the road.

"Yeah?" he turned his head to me.

"I know that you won't hurt me. You're just afraid to get close. You're scared that....the same thing that happened to Cass will happen to me. But there won't be any coming back, will there?" I said, trying to grasp why he left us.

He stayed silent for a long time, and then nodded. "Yeah....I'm scared I'm gonna—I'm going to lose you. And I don't want that."

I smiled a little and set my hand on top of his on the seat. "And you won't. But...don't push me away again like that. Okay?"

A light smile formed on his face. "I won't. And you'll stay by my side, right?"

I nodded. "I will."

"Hey, guys. Hate to break up this reunion, but the cops are looking for Kaia as well as us, so we gotta find her fast." Sam said back to us.

"You were right. About Mom, you were right. This whole time we should have been looking for her. And Anna's dad as well." Dean said from the drivers seat.

"Dean, that was just hop. I didn't fully know. Anyways, it doesn't matter. Now that we do know—" Sam said.

"We find them. No matter what it takes." Dean said with a look at his brother and me.

"Yup." Sam nodded.

"Jack, you okay?" Dean asked.

"You thought....you all though I could do that. That I could kill Derek." Jack said sadly.

"Jack. We didn't know what happened. We figured maybe it was an accident, or..." Sam said.

"Like the security guard." Jack said.

"Yes. Exactly like that." Sam nodded.

"Jack, listen, we were worried. You know when you disappeared, you were in a dark place and we didn't know where you were going, and then—"

"We thought you were looking for your dad." Dean interrupted Sam.

"You mean Lucifer? I was scared, I was upset. But why would I go to him? He's nothing to me. You, Castiel, you're my family." Jack said.

I smiled. "Jack's got three new fathers now."

Sam turned around in his seat and smiled at me. "You're family as well, Anna."
