My outfit

"Another," I waved at the bartender and pointed to the empty glass. It was replenished in a while. I picked up the glass and casually drank from it. I could feel the bitter alcohol in my taste buds.

A tragic comedy.

I should have laughed but instead I took another sip of the nice warm welcoming alcohol. I saw someone sit down next to me. The empty seat was filled, at least the one next to me. I didn't have to look at the face of the person next to me to know who it was.

"You know, right now my brother and sister are going to school and cause chaos. Very atypical and unexpected from them,'' he laughed lightly at the sarcasm. "Your friends are there and maybe some will end up dead by the end of the night, but I'll find you here in a bar drinking yourself to death."

I sighed and put my glass down, turning to face Elijah. Those familiar brown eyes. "First of all, they'll survive somehow, secondly, the Grill is a cool place, and thirdly, to my death, you need a lot more, darling," I smiled sweetly at him. His eyes focused on me. "And I also know that as soon as you're done with this chit-chat with me, you're going to tell them to behave."

A sigh left his mouth. "Niklaus is not in a good mood."

''I noticed. And I am not their mother or hen to follow them anywhere. They can handle it, they're big kids now,'' I've already seen how he can teach me. "But for your good feeling, I'll stay around, so if the dog breaks off the leash, I'll flatten it with my own hands."

"Okay... you know he didn't mean it-''

"Elijah," I addressed him. "What happened, happened. No hard feelings.''

He nodded and looked around. I don't know for what he was looking, but in a moment the bartender came. Most likely on his instructions, he paid him. I was out for a while before I realized it was for me. He took my glass and drank it before I could protest. At least no loss.

Elijah stood up, adjusted his suit and offered me his hand. I rolled my eyes and accepted it. He put his arm around my waist and led me outside. He turned the corner outside and got us to the school at vampire speed.

"Seriously?" he nodded. "Fine," I said and turned to leave. But before I could get anywhere he grabbed my hand and stopped me.

He pulled me into his arms despite my protests. If I stop resisting it will end sooner. I let him hold me, I let his warm arms wrap around me. I felt his warm breath against my ear, I heard him say. "You know we're here for you, just like you're here for us."

I rolled my eyes and pulled away from him and he let me go. "You act like I'm going to collapse at any moment. But I can assure you that I am perfectly fine. It's not like he says exactly what others think. And besides...'' I sneered and threw up my hands, '' it's true.''
