I woke up with a start, there was a crunching noise coming from somewhere. It t was pitch black all around me and all I could see were the fireflies twiddling around in the sky.

I could barely see a foot in front of my face so I was worried for a second but then I realized we fell asleep outside and it was probably just an animal, out of nowhere a chill ran up my spine.

I must have accidentally rolled away from Marcus. I reached out and felt the warmth of his chest and instantly calmed.

I didn't really want to wake him up but I needed a drink of water and I don't know where he put the lantern.

I shook him slightly then whispered, "Hey Marcus could you wake up for a sec? I don't know where the lantern is and I need a drink." he groaned and then sat up rubbing his eyes.

"Uh yeah it's right here." he handed it to me and I flicked it on we squinted at first but we eventually got used to it.

After I grabbed a bottle of water I heard that same crunching noise that I thought was in my dream. I looked at Marcus a little scared.

"Did you hear that?" I said in a breathy tone.

He looked at me with a stern expression and nodded. I was going to say something else but he brought his finger up to his lips and shushed me another shiver went up my spine there was no noise at all now.

It was eerily quiet, like in horror movies when you know something just terrible is going to happen but there is no turning back.

We can't see past the blanket so we have to rely totally on our sense of smell. I was staring directly at Marcus his sense of smell it ten times better than mine because of his alpha blood.

Then out of nowhere he launched himself at me and pinned me under his weight. At that exact moment I heard three loud bangs...gunshots.

The pack sirens immediately went off and I knew the warriors would be coming to stop this attack but it takes at least five minutes to get out here sprinting at full speed.

I was frantic and hysterical yelling at him in a whisper to let me up and for him to protect himself but he wouldn't move there was dead silence once again and it was freaking me out.

Marcus massaged my hip with one hand and and whispered in my ear, "Just relax everything is going to be fine you are going to be fine."

I grabbed his face and pulled it away from me so we had perfect eye contact my breathing was so fast I barely managed to get out, "Y-you have to be fine too. We have to get out of here—" he cut me off with a kiss it was so powerful and dominant I couldn't do anything.

He pulled away then he said ingnoring everything I just told him, "If I die I need you to know I love you with everything I have, ever since I saw you in that old, crappy bookstore and I would have given you the biggest most extravagant wedding if that's what you wanted. I love you so much." Right as he finished I heard another shot and this one met it's mark I felt him jolt.

I screamed but he brought his hand up and covered my mouth. I was now sobbing tears piling up in the corner of my eyes out of nowhere we heard howling and growling, our warriors must have arrived. I pulled his hand off my mouth.

Marcus was using every last bit of his energy and consciousness to hold himself up above me although even with just the glow of the lantern I knew he was gettting weaker and weaker by the second.

His face was as pale as a ghost and I knew I had to save him the doctor wouldn't get here in time.

I had to get the bullet out to prevent the silver from spreading any further through his system.

I started wiggling and pushing lightly at his chest, his breathing was extremely shallow so between gasps he said, "Please hold still I don't know how much longer... I can hold up." His breathing was labored.

I have to get through to him I thought, "The warriors are here we are safe I need to get the bullet out or else you will die." I sobbed, "I can't live without you, you have to let me up now."

After a second of pause he eased off of me and rested on his stomach. I instantly got up I grabbed the lantern and pulled it closer then I pulled at his shirt till it ripped.

The bullet must have been specifically designed to kill a alpha because with an average silver bullet he would have been hurt but it wouldn't have this extreme of an effect on him this fast.

If I would have been hit with this bullet I would have been dead on contact. The spot where the bullet entered was on his upper back.

I said, "I'm so sorry." Before sticking two fingers in to pull it out. He yelled and whimpered and it broke my heart but I couldn't stop, I had to get it out before it killed him. I could still hear fighting faintly in the distance.

I couldn't find the bullet for a second I felt around as little as possible hoping not to hurt Marcus too much.

When I felt the tip of my finger burn I knew I had found it. I pinched the tiny bullet between two fingers and pulled it out my wolf was whining heavily in my head.

Thank goodness she wasn't in charge because she is freaking out in every sense of the word.

It burned my fingers so bad, I can't imagine how bad it hurt Marcus after I got it out he stopped grunting in pain and let out a sigh before passing out. His breathing slowed significantly, and he relaxed.

I'm not stupid enough to think he is out of the woods though. He still has, from what I gather, a very potent amount of silver running through his veins.

I needed to stop the bleeding. I put my hand over the wound my eyes were all blurry from crying and you wouldn't be able to tell from looking at me but I was terrified he was going to die.

I grabbed him with all my strength and flipped him over the only thing that is going to save him is the mate bond so I pulled my dress down to my waist, in just my bra, I grabbed under his arms and pulled with all my might.

I sat against the tree still on the now bloody blanket I pulled him the last few inches till his upper back connected with my belly.

I could feel the warmth of his blood meeting my skin and it dropped and rolled down the side of my stomach onto the ground but after less then a minute the bleeding slowed.

I held his head against my chest and ran my fingers through his hair.

I hope he's okay because if he dies I won't be able to handle it.
