3rd P.O.V

Once Luz finally came back from tucking King in, Eda was the one who started the need as well as much dreaded conversation.

"Hun, can we talk for a moment?"

Luz knew she couldn't hold back her past much longer, especially with what they all knew about the village of Alekhin and how she reacted when the truth was shown to her.

Luz nods quietly and sat down next to her girlfriend, who wrapped her arm around her for support as Eda spoke gently.

"I know you don't want to have this conversation, but there is still one thing I do not understand when it comes to your past. What happened to your family there were more than one hundred people that crossed over to your realm so why couldn't you..."

"Why couldn't I go back to my папа home village?"

Eda nods softly and watches with sad eyes as her daughter gently holds her girlfriend's hand while she tries to find the words.

"Because the village and its people are no more..."

Eda's, as well as Amity's eyes, widened as the little light finally opened up about her past and scars.

"From what my babushka, my grandma, and папа told me, the village was destroyed in the midst of world war two." Luz started as she squeezes her girlfriend's hand softly," The country of Russia was in a state of chaos because of the nobility and the tension from the other countries."

"My babushka was only a teen when the revolution happened and all hell broke through. Neighbors turned on neighbors, family against family, and villages against villages because the people wanted to be free and have the rights like everyone else in the world. My babushka's village was in the deepest part of the Taiga Forest so deep that no one dared to venture because of how dangerous the animals and some of the plant life were but that did nothing to stop the revolutionaries to come at their doorstep."

"Папа never told me who came to the village neither did babushka but what they tell me was after refusing to help them, the people who came began to destroy the village, and no one besides my babushka and her lover survived as they hid in the basement of her lover's house. After that, they did their best to survive the harsh Russian weather even with their knowledge of nature and animals. A decade later, my папа was born and they lived happily for a time until my dedushka, my grandpa, died from an illness that couldn't be cured."

Luz took a long deep breath and wipes her eyes," Папа always told me about how harsh his momma on him but he also knew how she loved him as she sent him to school in a local town and then became his biggest fan when he found his love in music. He would play, sing, and dance for days and everyone around him loved his music so much that at twenty-four he traveled to the other side of the globe to continue work. That's where met my mami. She was studying to be a nurse, a healer assistant here,  and she met him on campus where he was performing. They always told me that it was love at first sight."

Amity gently nuzzles her cheek against her girlfriend's and pulled her closer to her. Luz gently rested her head on Amity's shoulder and smiles lovingly," Kinda like how we met at the Bardic Haven huh Ami."

"Yeah, but I wouldn't change it for anything." She kisses her girlfriend's cheek lovingly, enjoying how it made her very happy to the point her cute pointed ear would flap.

Luz continued her story with a smile on her face, making her mother smile at the young couple," Папа would do anything so that he could spend as much time with her as he could even though he came to the states to perform. Nothing else mattered to him besides gaining the love of my mami. After three months of courting the way, his mama taught him, both mami and he became a couple and then later married with a lot of criticism from everyone. Humans are very odd when it came to people marrying anyone that was of other different skin color or country that wasn't their own, my mami's parents were a part of that large group and we were very against the marriage but they didn't care. They lived happily in their homely little house where their love gifted them a child...me"

Eda watches as her daughter's eyes start to get glassy as she spoke more and more about her family. Amity noticed too and tried her best to give her as much support as she could.

"For the first four years of my life, they were the greatest and happiest time I've felt. Mami would also tell me how much she and папа loved me, папа would teach me music and play with me after he came back from work. We were happy but that wasn't meant to last either because a month after my fourth birthday we had a terrible accident. On our way to папа's concert in the next town over, we were hit head-on by a drunk driver and mami lost control of the vehicle. I don't remember much from it since I hit my head really hard and I was bleeding out from a massive wound on my stomach. They passed away on impact which I am grateful for since they didn't have to suffer..."

Luz's voice trailed off a bit as she looked toward the fire with deep sadness in her eyes. The memory of waking up in a blinding white room alone with strange people surrounding her, trying to get her to talk about the incident and if I had family members I could call.

"After waking up from the hospital, I was sent to an orphanage since babushka had already joined her loved ones on the other side. It wasn't bad at first but when they found out I was gifted, they tried everything to milk my abilities as much as they could even to the point I would collapse from exhaustion and stress." She shakes her head softly," So I had the bright idea to hide my gifts and get bad grades, get in trouble, and so on so that I could finally rest but that backfired so badly. When they saw that I wasn't performing at my peak anymore I was beaten and starved as they told me I had to perform at my best again or else but I didn't listen. They started sending me to their worst foster families as punishment and little by little I started to get weaker and life was slowly become too hard to live until I came here. I met you, Amity, King, Willow, Gus and so many people who love me and I am forever grateful that you let me be a part of your lives."

Luz gave Amity a gentle kiss and gave her momma a tight hug, showing them both just much they mean to her and how she is so lucky to have them in her life. The three of them know that after today, their views on the isles, their people, and the corrupted system have forever changed thanks to the girl who has become a beacon of light and hope in their once miserable lives. Whatever happens in the future they know that they will do it together but for now, they just want Luz to experience a much happier childhood and the first step is school.

{Phew not gonna lie I had to stop a couple of times because I was crying xD I hope you all love this chapter and I hope to see you on the next one when we finally get to see how Luz's first day at Hexside goes!!!"}
