Tommy lay back on the hospital bed. This time apparently his injuries were severe. A fractured rib, internal bleeding, and surgery—details that blurred into the background noise of his mind. "Whatever," Tommy thought as he only half-listened. He didn't really care all that much. Or at least that's what he told himself.

Deep down, a small part of him did care—after all, he was just a kid. There was always that nagging worry. That hurt that he can't shake away. A deep-seated anxiety will always be with him.

He sighed, accepting the fact that another night would be spent within these walls. He was no stranger to this. Quite the contrary, Tommy spent a good portion of his life in the hospital. It was sort of his second home. In a sense.

"Hey, Mr. Minecraft," a voice interrupted his thoughts. It was Dr. Jacobs. Tommy's guardian angel truly. Tommy knew the doctor well. Possibly too well... he was on a first-name basis with the guy—Karl Jacobs, the ever-cheerful doctor who had more warmth than he knew what to do with. He was a constant in Tommy's life.

Karl had two husbands their names were Quackity and Sapnap. Karl spoke very fondly of them never did he ever utter a single negative thing. Other then the occasional 'they didn't take out the trash' or light-hearted 'they are so annoying'. It was clear to Tommy that they were good people like Karl or at least good people to Karl.

His husband Sapnap spent years working to secretly help pay off Karl's college debt. His husband Quackity spent a hefty amount of time building a library because he knew his husband would enjoy it. They both worked endlessly to build their home just because Karl mentioned he was guilty they only shared their tiny apartment. It was as if Karl's words were the law and vice versa. Honestly Tommy was jealous.

Tommy has been invited to meet them on multiple occasions, but Tommy never had any intention of going. Not due to his jealousy but more so due to the fact that he wouldn't know how to act around all that love.

Karl's kindness was sickening yet oddly comforting. It made Tommy feel a strange emptiness, like he was missing something. He yearned for something and he couldn't put his finger on what. Ranboo made Tommy feel the same. Ranboo was a prime example of that kind-heartedness. Tommy admired it, needed it, craved to stay by their sides, even while pushing them away.

Tommy felt pity for kind-hearted people like Ranboo and Karl. They deserved so much yet failed to make that connection themselves. They shone brightly like the sun. Extending their warmth to everything and everyone in their path. Yet don't expect anything in return.

They are selfless, loyal, and all out of their own will. They have no alternative motives they are simply kind for the sake of being kind.

"Everything okay?" Ranboo asked, squeezing Tommy's hand. It sent a wave of comfort through him but also reminded him of how unworthy he felt of that kindness. Quickly, he pulled his hand away, immediately regretting the look of disappointment that flashed across Ranboo's face.

Karl who seemed oblivious to the action continued, "So, Mr. Minecraft, how are you feeling after your surgery? Any pain? Itching?"

"I'm fine," Tommy replied, the words slipping out more roughly than he intended.

Karl offered a slightly skeptical smile. "If you need anything anything at all I'm just a button away." Tommy nodded, grateful. Tommy knew Dr. Jacob's meant what he said about being there for anything the younger needed. Karl had bent enough rules for Tommy to know his number one priority was to make sure Tommy was okay. He noticed this when Karl started getting him actual food instead of the usual hospital slop after discovering Tommy's eating habits.
