No I can't like James, it could ruin my family's reputation. Net then pushed that thought to the back of his head, hoping it would just go away.

Over the next few days/weeks, Net and James would invite the other to come over to each other home offices do business transaction. However they hardly spoke a peep to each other. Net would often come up with the usual questions, "how are you", "how was your day", yada yada, but James would often respond with one questions so the conversations never went anywhere.

The situation was all around awkward, though awkwardness wasn't the only thing that Net dealt with. Whenever he was near James his heart would start to race, and when Net and James got too close, Net felt like he was about to explode.

Sometimes Net would have excuse himself from the office to take a breather before James could see his heightened breathing and flushed cheeks. He doesn't like me as it is, so why can't I let go of this already? Net thought.

One morning, Net and James were doing their usual business transactions when Net brought up a conversation about James' recent personality change. "Hey. If I ask you this question can you not dismiss me like you're always doing" Net asked, lowkey kind of furious. "Okay?", James responded with, and had this confused look on his face.

"What happened to you? I know that it's been 12 years and 12 years is a long time but we used to be the best of friends. Now you can hardly look at me, always give me the cold shoulder and barely talk to me. It's like you've taken on a whole other identity, I barely recognize you.". James looked at Net all flustered.

"Yeah well people change a lot over 12 years. 12 years ago we were little children who didn't know better. Now we're making business transactions for our fathers. Besides why do you care so much?" James said, now he's all fired up.

At this point Net thought it'd be useless to keep his little crush to himself so he responded to James, in a more begging tone, with "Well, if you really want to know....I-I still like you. And I know it sounds pathetic that after 12 years I haven't gotten over this crush I have on you. I thought I did get over you, but the minute I saw you at my family's door all the emotions just rushed back in". James just sat there, shocked at Net's confession. It looked to Net that James was in full rage.

"Aren't you going to say anything?" Net said. By now James had closed his eyes and in a quiet tone he said "Get Out". It was now Net's turn to be shocked at James' response. "What did you just say?" Net said, curious to know whether or  he heard clearly. "I SAID GET OUT" James said once again, this time much harsher and staring straight at Net. So Net obliged, after all it was James' house and James was already mad at him as it is.

As Net left the office room, James' mom was just passing by. When she saw Net she said "Oh, hello Net, I thought you and James were in the office talking about business". Net, in a cheerful tone, not wanting to worry the woman said "Ah, that. Uh....James and I had finished early, so now I'm just heading home.". "Oh, ok. Make sure you greet your parents for me" James' mom said. "I will" Net responded, and then off he went, back home.

Back in the office, James now had his head down in his arms, then he raised his head and began staring at the wall. His eyes were filled with tears. If only you knew, James thought. If only you knew.......
