Chapter Twelve

                                    

                                          
"Wh-what?" Y/n stuttered out as she sat in shock in her office, not wanting to believe the man on the phone. Jungkook was going to be the one that could back up his side of the story without all the other evidence that y/n would like to have. With him now apparently dead, the chance of her winning the case was even lower. Granted the outcome didn't matter for Jungkook anymore, but she still needed to have the true murderer behind bars.
"Jungkook was found on the floor of his cell by our morning guard at 8:00am. He was face down and deemed to have been dead since early morning, around 1-2am. We are figuring out the cause of death as we speak. I'm sorry." The man said on the phone as y/n listened to everything he was saying.
"I want a list of every guard, officer, and visitor that has entered that building within the last 48 hours. I'll be there in half an hour." Y/n said as she hung up the phone, frantically throwing her things into her bag as she had to figure out who killed Jungkook now. She had a list of suspects in her head because of the case with Jimin, so if any of those names pop up on that list, they are going to be her top target.
Y/n almost tripped over her legs as she ran over to her office door, flinging it open. Jennie flinched at the noise it made and shot her head over in y/n's direction, seeing the woman sprint down the hallway to Mason's office. Y/n didn't bother knocking and opened the door, breathing heavily as Mason thankfully wasn't doing anything important at the moment. He looked bewildered at y/n's movements and y/n closed the door behind her, not needing anyone else to hear what she was going to say to her boss.
"What's wron-"
"Jungkook is dead and I need to get this killer because they have killed both Jimin and him now. I was gathering evidence which helped me with the case and the killer knew this. I couldn't get everything I wanted and Jungkook was going to be the piece that held my case together. So they killed him somehow and I'm going to take the case now too, bye." Y/n rushed out as Mason was trying to process everything y/n had just told him.
When Mason first saw that this case was open, he didn't want any of his lawyers on the case. Jimin was like a true son to Mason and when he died years ago, he didn't rest for two years because the killer was still on the loose. So when Jungkook was caught, he without a doubt blamed the man for killing his son in law because all the evidence pointed to him, so why would Mason even consider it being someone else? 
He didn't like the fact that y/n had gotten the case, but he couldn't say why because that was private. So he shut his mouth and let her do her job, knowing that she would lose the case because Jungkook was guilty. Or so he thought. When Mason saw how wrapped up y/n was in this case, he started to grow confused because y/n shouldn't have been putting this much effort into a murder case that had blatant evidence.
And now hearing Jungkook was dead made Mason start to question if he was framed, just like y/n believed.
Y/n was out of his office though before he could say anything. Y/n flew down the hallway, but was stopped by both Jisoo and Jennie. Y/n tried to push past them, but they created a wall in front of the elevators, not allowing y/n to pass.
"Care to tell us why the fuck you're running around like a chicken with its head cut off?" Jisoo asked y/n as y/n looked between both women,
"Let's just say I'm solving two murder cases now instead of one."
Both women looked at y/n with wide eyes as she pushed past them to get into an elevator, not wanting to waste anymore time. She gave the pair a frantic smile as she looked at them with the elevator doors closing,
"I'm probably not going to make it Friday night, but I'll try my best."
And just like that, y/n was driving down the roads during rush hour. She was swearing up a storm in her car at all the traffic, but made it to the holding facility after 37 minutes. Y/n entered the facility and there were two police officers waiting for her. They escorted her to where Jungkook's body was being held. They had done the autopsy on him already and are currently figuring out the cause of death.
