Chapter 30 || I'm happy
;hearts are like bread dough, the longer they're played with, the harder they become
"You're sure you're going to be okay?" Isaac asks me for the millionth time this morning.
I roll my eyes and bite back a smile. "I'm gonna be fine." I assure him. "You go, you're gonna be late."
"I don't have to go, you know. I can stay here with you." he suggests, inching closer towards the door.
"Isaac, you are not missing this meeting." I insist. "You go, blow their freaking minds, and we'll be right here waiting for you to celebrate once you do."
My over protective baby father turns to Asher - who's munching on a bag of chilli heatwave Doritos behind me, idly minding his own business - and points a finger at him.
"You make sure you look after her." He warns his best friend. "I mean it. I don't want her lifting shit, eating that shit -" he eyes the bag of chips. "Or over working herself. You hear me?"
Asher snorts under his breath. "Plheeze. Like I'm gonna let my baby mama work her ass off under my care. Don't be stupid."
While growling he fake lunges at Asher, who can't help but laugh, but still stumbles backwards.
Lightly shoving Isaac toward the door, I look up and catch his emeralds that are washing with worry. "If you don't go I'm putting Asher on the birth certificate instead of you." I threaten. "Seriously, go. I'm gonna be fine, I have everyone around me, I doubt I'll even notice you're gone."
A slow smirk tugs at his lips. "You better notice I'm gone or I'm gonna make my presence really fucking known once I'm back."
"Can't wait."
Pushing to my tip toes, I pull Isaac down by his neck and press my lips against his, which soon turns too heated that if we don't stop, Asher will get a free show.
Groaning as he pulls back, Isaac drops his forehead against mine. "I'll call you as soon as I get there, make sure you answer, okay?"
I nod. "Promise."
Instead of leaving right away, Isaac does the cutest thing that melts my freaking heart.
His huge, warm, tatted hand reaches between us and rests on my growing bump, his eyes locking on my stomach when he whispers, "be a good girl for mommy while I'm gone, princess. She needs all the rest she can get while growing your little fingers and toes."
I swear a tear rolls down my cheek.
It's not unusual for Isaac to speak to my stomach, nor it is uncommon for him to refer to my bump as a girl - which we don't know yet - but still, every time he interacts with our baby it tugs at my emotional heart strings and brings tears to my eyes.
