I hurried to keep up with the super. "You're Silver Shadow?" Silver Shadow, while a stupid name, was one of the best and most popular Supers out there. Pretty much every girl -and a couple guys, too- had a crush on him and fangirled over him.
"Your mom works with us. You know who we are."
"What does that mean?"
He stopped to look at me. "Your mom didn't tell you?"
I shrugged. "We don't have that great a relationship. If it wasn't for my step dad, I'd be away at a boarding school by now, so that she wouldn't have to see me at all."
The Super looked at me with what looked like pity in his eyes. He opened his mouth to speak, but I cut him off.
"I don't need your pity. It's actually kind of nice, because I'm free to do pretty much whatever I want."
"Don't you miss having a mom though?" He asked me.
"You don't miss what you never had. Now where are we going?"
Silver Shadow replied, looking ahead. "Us Supers have a base, you know."
I snorted. "What, like the Batcave or something? Where's the Batmobile to go with it?"
"Not the Batmobile, but pretty damn close," Silver Shadow replied as we rounded a corner.
I stopped dead in my tracks. In front of me, there was a sleek black car. It was a two door (go figure) with bright LED headlights. Logan opened the passenger door for me, and I climbed in, still awestruck by the car. The interior was even more beautiful than the outside. Neon lights made it seem more futuristic, and a screen popped up in the middle of the dashboard.
"Directions to the Base." The Super next to me said. The GPS repeated his directions as confirmation, and then the route appeared on the screen. Logan tapped the screen a couple times, and then music filled the car.
"The future is bulletproof! The aftermath is secondary! It's time to do it loud and do it proud!" The speakers blared.
I grinned, and belted out. "KILLJOYS! MAKE SOME NOISE!"
The song continued, and I turned to look at the Super. He sang along quietly, keeping his eyes on the road. At the red light, he met my gaze and smirked.
"Take a picture."
I reddened and looked away, turning instead to gaze out the window. We passed familiar streets and stores before the car turned onto a road I hadn't been on before. We went into what seemed like a parking garage, going underground for a while. Finally, the Super parked the car.
"Come on." He climbed out of the vehicle, not even waiting for me to scramble out of my seat as he began walking to a black door with a keypad.
"Turn around." Logan told me, and I turned my body so that I couldn't see the password that he entered in the keypad. The door swung open, and Logan pulled me inside quickly before it slammed shut again.
I pulled my wrist out of his tight grasp. "Is this a Super headquarter place?"
Of course, there had been rumours that the superheroes had a base. There was even an annual contest held to see who could come up with the best design for a superhero base. One of my few friends, Abby, had won third place in last year's contest.
We walked up a set of stairs, than in an elevator. Logan was silent as we went up. I put my hands in my pockets, unsure of what to do.
The doors slid open, and we stepped out into a large modern room. There was a line of computers and monitors on one wall, as well as a television, a couple couches, and a large window that took up another wall. There was a mini-kitchen in a corner, complete with a fridge, and everyone's must-have, a microwave. Bookshelves lined the final wall, and I refrained from grabbing a book and yelling "My precious!" in a creepy Gollum voice.
Logan walked over to the kitchen area and pulled out a first aid kit. "Come over here." I walked slowly to where he was standing, looking around me as I moved. The monitors displayed news stations, police reports, and what looked like a chat room between a bunch of supers.
Logan pulled gauze, ointment, and medical scissors. He pointed at the gash on my neck, which was still bleeding, a little.
"I'm going to bandage your cut, so you need to remove your sweater." He spoke rather softly, which was unsettling, but I did as I was told and removed the light blue sweater that I was wearing.
He pulled my hair back from the wound, his hands warm and soft. "The cream is going to burn. Okay?"
I nodded, and Logan wiped the blood away from my neck and rubbed the ointment on the gash. It was cold at first, then started burning. I gasped and bit my lip to keep from crying.
"You can cry, you know. I'll only judge you a little bit." Logan smirked at me, and his annoyingness made me forget the pain for a minute.
Logan wrapped the gauze around my neck, making me look like a psycho zombie person. I looked down at my bloodied shirt and grimaced. Logan noticed and laughed.
"You look terrible. I think we have clean clothes in here somewhere, come on."
We walked into another room that looked a lot like a girl's dormitory. Logan looked back at me.
"This is where the girls sleep. I think Louise will have some clothes in your size."
The room was fairly large, with cream colored walls and three beds. They had matching blue and purple bedspreads, and there were vintage-looking lockers on the floor next to each bed. There was a closet in the far wall.
Logan rummaged around in the closet and pulled out a blue button down shirt and a pair of jeans. He was right, they were both in my size.
"Who's Louise?" I asked as he walked me to a bathroom.
"You know who Glitter Girl is?"
"No way!" Glitter Girl was an awesome Super who could fly, super speed, and be invisible. She called herself Glitter Girl because her suit was a rainbow-glitter unitard with silver thigh-high boots and a silver mask. "Yes way." Logan said before shoving me into the bathroom and closing the door behind me. "I'll be in the main room if you need anything." He called before leaving me to get changed.
I quickly buttoned the blue shirt and pulled on the jeans before tying my hair back in a ponytail. Luckily, the gauze bandage was thick enough so that the cut didn't bleed through and make me look weirder than I already did.
I walked out of the bathroom and back to the main room. Logan was now joined by someone. Seeing me, Logan and the new girl stood up and walked over to me.
"Louise, this is Amber Coradetti, Amber, this is Louise." I looked at the famous Glitter Girl, but contained my fangirling to shyly shake her hand.
"Thanks for letting me borrow these." I said, gesturing to the shirt and jeans I was wearing.
Louise smiled. "No problem. So, Logan says you're a Super?"
I nodded. "I accidentally unleashed a small snowstorm after two guys tried to murder me."
Glitter Girl's eyes widened. "Wow." Turning to Logan, she asked. "Did you test her to see what kind of powers she has and if she has any others?"
Logan shook his head. "I didn't get the chance to. We were only here for fifteen minutes before you showed up."
"Oh. We should test her before she accidentally releases some other power we don't know about."
I looked at the two of them. "Test?"
"Yep!" Louise said, grabbing my arm and dragging me to the elevator. "Come on, Amber. You too Logan! We're going to the lab."
Why hello there! I hope you liked this chapter. The next one won't be as long, unfortunately, but we do learn a little more about Amber. As always, comment, share, vote, do whatever!
Ciao for now,
Anja
Before I forget: A friend told me that this cover looks suspiciously like the 50 Shades one (I never read the book, so I wouldn't know). So I'll either replace it with one I made or ask you guys to make me one. I think I'll try for the latter. Those who are interested, please comment or send me a message through my profile thingy. Thanks!

RandomHow are you doing that?" He asked me. His voice sounded like a teenager's, around my age of seventeen years. I blinked, confused. "Doing what?" "The snowstorm. That." He pointed to the swirling flakes of snow around me. "I- I don't know. I thought...
