LUTHER GROANED AS he woke up to Grace towering over him while she dabbed off the sweat and blood on his head with a piece of cloth, humming a tune. "Mom?" He groaned out, eyes still feeling like a light was shone to it.
"Why does everyone keep calling me that?" Grace questioned. She still had a grin on her face even when she's confused as she stopped cleaning his face up.
Luther groaned while he ignored the question. It was then he found out that he wasn't lying down on the squeaky bed of the Hotel Obsidian. He started to wonder, "Where am I?"
"The Academy, silly." The robot answered, she sounded perkier than the last time they saw her. "Everybody's waiting for you."
"The Academy?"
That's when he heard chatters from the other room along with the noise of the blender when it's turned on. With that, he stood up from the medical bed, wide awake. Remembering how the hell he got here.
Once he did, he immediately strategized to defend himself with a mop. Seems like a good thing to bash them with. He thought before leaving Grace there in the clinic, walking into the other room where...
They were having breakfast.
"Ah! There he is." It felt stranger when the man with the soggy physique greeted him in an oh-so-welcoming way. Followed by Sloane stopping the blender to smile at him.
Luther was even more confounded when the sparrows invited him to eat with them. "Please, join us." Fei gestured for the chair Alphonso dragged in for him.
He was still in his fighting stance with a mop. Finding it tempting to get along with it. "It's okay." Ben chimed, "Nobody's gonna hurt you." He reassured.
Sloane then gave Luther a glass of her green beverage. "Smoothie?" She offered.
"Oh." Space boy was already thinking that they weren't at all so bad. "Yeah, thanks." He smiled at Sloane as he took the smoothie from her hands, letting her take the mop and set it aside.
"You must be starving." His attention went back to Fei as she ate her crunchy food. But as someone who was still shy and confused about this whole thing, he tried to resist. He had to go home, anyway. "No, I... I probably shouldn't--"
That is, until he saw a cluster of jars on the table. "Is that cashew butter?"
Automatically, Sloane listed what on all of those jars, tempting him to stay put for a while. "Cashew butter, almond butter, sunflower butter, tahini, Brazil nut." And boy, did it sold Luther. "Wow."
Now he couldn't take his eyes off those different jars with different spreads. "You know what? Now that you mentioned it, I am feeling a little bit, uh, peckish, actually." He nervously chuckled out.
"Help yourself."
"Thanks." With that, Luther started drinking the smoothie Sloane gave him, eyes widening at how good it tasted. His hesitations soon faded away when he took a seat and dug in, starting with a slice of bread and a butter knife full of cashew butter.
As they watched him help himself with breakfast, Ben started off their conversation. "So," he began as he loosely entwined his fingers and rested his elbows on the table, "we know you're Number One, but we haven't been formally introduced yet. I'm Ben, Number Two." Even the way he delivered his words sounded different from the old Ben.
