Sammy was the most ordinary sixteen year old girl you can ever imagine. She was the ideal daughter to her parents, but with just a drag of a pen, all of that vanished.

It was a Saturday morning, and Sammy's household was as silent as a grave. She woke up to beautiful sun rays tickling her cheeks. She walked down to greet her parents, but she sensed it was something important they were talking about so she stepped away from the kitchen door.

"I can't believe we're doing this, Adrian." Her mother said, a hint of sob leaving her mouth. Sammy sneaked a peek at them and saw her mother crying, and her father trying to comfort her.

"You know, it's nothing we can do, sweetheart. It's nothing we can do." He repeated, running his hand up and down her back soothingly. Sammy knitted her brows together, not really catching on what they're saying.

She entered the kitchen slowly, and her mother quickly wiped her cheeks upon seeing Sammy. "Good morning, honey." Her mother greeted her, unwillingly smiling. She smiled a little back at her, and waved at her father.

"What's going on?" she asked when she filled a glass of water. "Why was mum crying?" She asked her father, when her mother left to wash her face.

"Yiu'all find out soon, really soon." He said, his own eyes tearing up as he looked longily at Sammy.

He left her alone to think of all the events that just happened, and the day hasn't even started yet.

"Sammy?" Adrian called for his daughter to come downstairs, and she did. "Yeah?"

"Dress something good, we're going for a place." He instructed, softly, and she nodded shrugging her shoulders.

She put on more presentable clothes than just sweatpants and a T-shirt, and went downstairs.

"Ready?" Her mother asked her, and she, yet again, nodded without saying a word.

They took off to a place Sammy was yet to know. She put on her headphones, trying to distract herself from trying to guess where they were going.

Her father decelerated the speed of the car, and she assumed they were almost there, so she readied herself to whatever she were to face.

Adrian parked the car, and since it was dark, Sammy couldn't make out where they were, so she decided to go with the flow.

"Let's go, Sammy." She sighed at the mentioning of her full name. She never really liked it, but that wasn't important now.

The three of them walked inside the building, her mother reaching out for Sammy's hand. Sammy felt her mother gripping tightly at her hand, and she didn't understand why, it wasn't like it was the first time for her to grip her daughter's hand.

they, then entered an office, where a middle aged brunette sat on a desk. She greeted them nicely, and each of them took a seat, leaving Sammy to sit on the couch.

"So, that's her?" the woman said, looking at Sammy. Sammy looked confused, as her mother looked at her with teary eyes, nodding
at the woman.

Her mother suddenly burst out crying, sobs filled the small, white office.

"We need you to sign these." The woman said, emotionless. "Wait can someone tell me what's going on?" Sammy exclaimed, looking at the woman then at her father. Adrian couldn't talk, as he watched his wife cry and sob in front of him.

"Haven't they told you, kid?" The woman said, harshly, looking at Sammy. "Told me what?" Sammy exclaimed.

"That you're being signed up for adoption."
