"and then, vicky laughed! it wasn't like a cheap fake laugh, it was a real, genuine laugh." robin was too excited about talking to vicky at the game last night.

i felt happy for her. "of course she laughed. tammie sucked." i snickered, while swinging my feet on the counter.

"my point is that vicky laughed and everything was just perfect." she sighed.

steve was stacking movies. "but?" he asked.

robin leaned against the counter next to me. "but i'm having this problem. like, i should stop talking. i have said everything i need to say. i guess i get nervous and it just keeps spilling out! it's like my brain is moving faster than my mouth! or rather my mouth is moving faster than my brain and it's like i'm digging but i need to stop digging and i'm doing it now!" she exhaled after speaking so fast.

"yea, you are." i said.

robin walked over and leaned against the wall, crossing her arms. "i'm hopeless."

steve leaned next to her. "we all are." he said.

"if only we could all just, combine." robin said.

i tilted my head. "combine?"

"no think about it, i know exactly what i want, and i found the girl of my dreams but i just can't find the nerve to ask her out, but you go on a million dates with kat and you have exactly what you want as well. and kat, your attitude with other people is just perfect. so if we combined-"

it clicked for steve.

"ohhh."

"i mean, i'm alone, and let's face it, i'm very lonely."

it went quiet for a moment.

"ooo! i think i found our morning movie." she ran over to the shelf steve just finished stacking. "doctor zhivago!"

i slipped off of the counter, and scoffed. "you know we don't do double vhs." i said, walking over to her.

"but it's about doomed love!"

"well that's debatable." steve commented.

robin got excited. "great! also julie christie is b-b-b-b-bonkers hot in this. like seriously, the most beautiful girl i have ever seen in my life." robin picked up the tv remote, and turned on the small tv.

the news channel was on, reporting breaking news.

"we don't have a lot of detectives right now, but we can confirm that the body of a hawkins high school student was discovered early this morning. police have not yet released the victim-"

i gasped. "holy shit."

"however, they are in the process of telling the family."

i hope it wasn't one of our kids.

about an hour later, dustin and max bust into the store.

"hey!"

steve points to the tv screen. "are you guys seeing this?" he asked.

"how many phones do you have?" dustin asked.

"dude someone was murdered!" i shouted.

dustin ignored my comment. "HOW MANY PHONES DO YOU HAVE?!"

"uh 2, why?" steve said.
