He said, kids.
My heart can't handle a mini version of Ryan.I love how he said kids. He's gonna be so cute with a baby.Is Ryan going to be a dad? (Again)
And that had been how my Twitter feed has looked since Monday after Ryan mentioned kids. After he said the plural word he tried to look sheepishly at the camera, knowing his mistake was just heard over television and across the track. The very same track that his sister Erin had come along with William to.
Trying to avoid her was the worst part. I had so wanted to just let Ryan's sister and parents know but as a precautionary measure, I wanted to make sure the pregnancy was viable and nothing was wrong. Sometimes things don't always implant in the right place.
Ryan had been getting messages of the same context. Along with Twitter, his sisters had tried calling and messaging too. He did tell them we'll talk about it soon and that seemed to calm them to a mere rumble of emoji messages. I knew Ryan was bursting at the seams to tell them. To be fair they only have to wait a few more hours. I had set the appointment up for Thursday because every other day was so busy for us. Eleanor was back in school Tuesday morning and had caught up on anything she may have missed while gone Monday.
Ryan and I were waiting to tell her this weekend. She needed a bit of cheering up with her arm. After the initial happiness of getting everyone to sign the cast, she was annoyed because she couldn't do most of the fun stuff she liked to do. She had huffed around all day Tuesday after getting her homework done. She wanted to get back out on her bike again. I had been a bit scared to let her on it again but I knew she had to get back up after falling and try again. It was the only way she'd learn how to do it right. (Ryan and Chase helping her more.)
Speaking of Ryan, he had been very excited this morning; even waking up to help El get ready for school and letting me sleep in. Usually, I'm half a second away from dumping water on him to get him up that early on an off day. When we were leaving the house, he made sure to be extra careful while driving and even held open the door for me to get in and out of the truck.
Whenever I was signing in, Ryan took a seat away from everyone and waited not so patiently as his knee begin to bounce. It was cute to see him so anxious. If I had known this was how he was going to act, I probably would have gone off birth control a couple of months back.
"I'm going to have you fill out these papers but Dr. Ames should be out to get you in a couple of minutes." The receptionist handed me the clipboard and a pen as she was talking. When she was done, I walked back to Ryan sitting down beside him.
"I know you're excited but I want to let you know that this appointment is usually a long one. A lot of questions, blood work, and at the end they'll do a scan to make sure everything is fine with the baby."
Ryan
She wasn't kidding about it being long. I had answered the questions for my side right along with her, exited the room as she had her examinations done, and returned when they were ready to do the scan.
