Hyunjin sighed, it'd been a month already. A month of flourishing the aspects of his life that were mercilessly dampened by the influences of homelessness. A month of thriving in his new occupation at the marketplace, helping the women with their primary tasks, as well as accepting kind tokens in return, upon a fortnightly salary to assist where he still lived.

And a month of growing his relationship with Bella and her father, whilst watching from the sides -- whenever he needed to -- as Chan grew closer and closer to the fair male who had helped him to his feet.

Lee Felix; adorable freckles, the brightest smile, and warm eyes, most selfless heart. Hyunjin had to swallow hard every morning that Felix would stop by to pick Bella up, or afternoon when he'd go out with her; or them.

Hyunjin envied the latter, in all honesty. Wished that Chan would soon trust him enough to take him on a long outing in the open, with Bella, without the fear of being targeted by one of Hyunjin's old dealers.

But Hyunjin understood, despite the sting, and the undeniable jealousy that'd irk the inside of his cheeks at times, calling his tongue for pokes while his eyes rolled backward whenever he was alone.

He'd still maintain gratefulness for the nights at which Chan did make way for quality time with Bella, like right then; Bella seated between his legs, leaning back-first on his torso as he accompanied her interest in an animated scene rolling on her tablet.

Hyunjin giggled when she giggled and feigned sorrow when her childish expression dictated the same. A good distraction against the possibilities of what was occurring downstairs, since Felix had visited. He and Chan stood in the kitchen; the last thing Hyunjin had seen after greeting and scurrying away to spend time with the child whom he honestly-- somewhat-- wished that he could consider as his.

"Uncle Jinnie?" Bella mumbled when another episode ended, shifting in her uncle's hold to look up at him more comfortably, smiling at the way he looked down on her ever so lovingly.

"Princess?"

"Are you going to live with us forever?"

Hyunjin sighed, looking away. "No," he shrugged, bothered by his own admission, "but I'd always be your uncle, hm?"

"Oh," Bella pouted, turning her face front again before sinking back into Hyunjin's embrace. "I wish you could live with us forever," she started another episode of her cartoon, glancing up at the new school bag -- Beauty and the Beast-themed -- laying at one point on the bedroom floor, "You remind me of mummy. I miss her... I wish daddy would talk about her more..."
