y/n wasn't stupid. she could tell that minho liked her, and although she wasn't interested in him, she thought it was nice to distract herself from her feelings for jungwoo. maybe she could finally try to like someone else. and who was jungwoo to mess that up? who was he to stop her from moving on? even if he had no idea that that was what she was trying to do. why was he mad that she was dating anyway? he was being so selfish, trying to keep her to himself.
it didn't make any sense.
she slammed the door to jungwoo's room shut, swiftly leaving the dorm, startling yuta and taeil who were sitting on the sofa.
"was that y/n?" yuta asked, looking at taeil in confusion. taeil looked equally as perplexed, standing up to go knock on jungwoo's door before opening it. he was met with the sight of jungwoo slouched on the edge of his bed, head in hands. taeil smiled softly, feeling sorry for his friend.
"you guys fought again?" he asked, sitting down beside him.
jungwoo hummed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "she went to see him again-"
"you can't be mad at her" taeil cut him off, laying a comforting hand on his shoulder. they had had this conversation so many times. "she doesn't even know, jungwoo" he said calmly. they sat in silence for a while until taeil spoke up again.
"you gotta tell her someday. either that or let her go."
"i know." jungwoo sighed. he knew he was being unreasonable. overtime his feelings for y/n had only grown stronger, getting impossible to hide. he no longer had the energy to pretend to be unbothered when she would see other people, to smile and say he was happy for her. but at the same time, he was terrified of her ever finding out how he truly felt. he was scared of her getting too close, afraid of her getting to know the most intimate parts of who he was, only to find out he wasn't someone worth keeping around.
a loser.
so he kept quiet.
deep down, he was ashamed of himself for not telling her the truth. for not explaining his irrational behaviour. for trying to keep her to himself.
she was too good for him anyway.
y/n was on her way to pick up jungwoo for their weekly trip to the convenience store to stack up on snacks for their movie night.
well, 'weekly'.
due to promotions and preparations, it had been over a month since they last properly hung out, only briefly seeing each other at the company, on facetime or whenever any one of them had enough energy to go over to the other late at night after schedules ended. thankfully they didn't live too far apart.
just as y/n was about to knock the door opened. "how did you know i was-"
she didn't even get to finish her sentence before jungwoo tackled her in a hug.
"i missed you" he mumbled into her hair, breathing in the scent of her shampoo. y/n felt her cheeks heat up at the affection, yet she sighed and gave into his embrace.
"me too."
after a couple of seconds, a slight panic took over jungwoo and he let go. did he hug her for too long? had he overstepped any boundaries? searching their surroundings for something to change the topic, he took the umbrella she was holding from her hands. "i'll carry this" he said, wiggling his eyebrows and smiling proudly.
"wah, what a gentleman!" y/n giggled, hiding her disappointment over the hug ending so soon.
"well, i have to hold it so you don't poke me in the eye like last time, tiny" he snickered. she punched him in the arm at that and he let out a small yelp, rubbing the point of impact.
