Mavis felt like her heart would jump out of her chest at any second. Why had she come up with this plan? She definitely had to be experiencing an adrenaline rush when she suggested it, but it was too late to back out now. Somebody had to do it, and it would be her. Whether she had expected it or not, she had grown attached to Steve, Dustin and Robin in this short time, and she would not let anything happen to them.

She slipped into the jacket before looking at her reflection in the bathroom mirror, taking a few deep breaths to calm herself down. God, she could only hope this would work. Or that she would make it out alive.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Steve asked the moment she got out of the bathroom. "It's dangerous."

"I know. But I got this, don't worry," she gave him a tight-lipped smile.

However, that didn't ease Steve's nerves. Yes, he had met her just a few days ago, but he saw her as a friend already. And he didn't want anything bad happening to her.

"She's got this, Steve. I'm sure Mavis is a secret badass," Robin said with a smirk.

"And I'm going to be watching her. Just in case anything happens," Dustin nodded.

"Oh, thank you Henderson. I feel so much calmer now," he answered sarcastically.

"Harrington," Steve looked at Mavis when she called out to him. "I have a plan, so I'll be fine, I promise," she smiled before she opened the door that led to the tunnels. "And with that said... I'll see you on the other side."

And just like that, she disappeared into the tunnels, closing the door behind her. Yes, she had a plan, but it wasn't a well-thought-out one. She only knew what she would do first, and from there... well, she was going to improvise. As she started to walk through the halls, headed to the room where she had found the jacket, Mavis pulled the hood over her head, trying to hide her face as much as she could. Sure, it was very early in the morning, and most of the mall shops were closed, meaning there wouldn't be a lot of people around, but better to be safe than sorry, right?
