CW: blood and murder!
"I'm home!" Patton called as he pushed open the door. He set his keys down as he closed the door before taking off his shoes.
The house was quiet as Patton walked in, looking for Logan. Of course the first place he looked was the office, and as predicted, Logan was in there. What was a surprise however was that he was fast asleep, slumped over his desk.
"Logie bear," the nymph cooed, setting his hand on the other's shoulder. "It's time to wake up, dear."
Logan frowned as he started to wake up, taking a deep breath. His eyes blinked open and he looked up to his smiling fiance, though his vision was partially blurred since his glasses were askew. He quickly sat up and fixed his glasses.
"Hello there, sleepy head," Patton said, a lovestruck smile on his face.
Logan hummed, "Hi Pat..."
"Did you go to bed late last night? I told you not to!"
"I did go to bed not long after you fell asleep, don't worry," Logan mumbled, rubbing his eyes. "However, I didn't sleep well. Something's been bothering me."
"About one of your cases?"
"No, something else. It's about the gangs, but none of my specific cases. Do you remember the reports of explosions near the edge of town? That's where that car factory is. I never trusted that place, I highly doubt it's a car factory."
Patton frowned for a moment before paling, realizing what Logan was talking about. "Wh-what do you think it is?"
"Well it's fairly obvious that it's a hide out or some kind of factory for one of the gangs, possibly Wolfsbane. However the chief wouldn't let me investigate any further, and I'm having trouble getting to a judge so they can sign a warrant. I swear, that chief works against me."
"I'll beat him up for you." They nymph hugged Logan from behind.
"Please don't do that, I don't need you to be arrested for assault."
"I could wear a disguise?"
"Patton, please don't attack my boss. No matter how annoying he is."
Humming in thought, Patton wrinkled his nose. "How about... I won't do that if you stop working for the rest of the night."
"Are you holding my boss hostage?" Logan turned to him.
Patton gave him a devious smile. "Yes I am, and what are you going to do about it, officer?"
"Well I guess I'll just-" Logan was cut off when his fiance kissed his nose. The detective felt his face burn, and Patton saw the blue freckles Logan kept hidden behind makeup turn purple. He was glad the dark makeup had smudged when Logan was asleep. Aside from his slightly pointy ears and bright white eyes, the blue freckles are the only way you can tell he's not human.
Patton laughed and grabbed Logan's hands, pulling him from the chair. "I got you," he teased.
Logan let go of his hands, clearing his throat as he adjusted his tie. "I suppose you did."

"Have there been any reports on those two Bleeding Rose leaders?" Black asked, dusting off his shirt in the dark room.
"They're both still alive," Melany answered. "No one has made any attempts today."
The water genie sighed, "Usually that would upset me. However, considering the dart you found this morning, and this job that we finished, I'm in a good mood." Black looked at the wolfsbane flowers that were set in a vase on the coffee table of the living room they were in.
"Snapdragon was the one that found the dart. I just hope there's enough DNA to figure out the true identity of this leader. And maybe he can lead us to the other one."
"Hm, Snapdragon is becoming more and more useful to us. I guess everything we went through to get him is well worth it."
"I have a feeling he would very much disagree with that."
Black shrugged. "It doesn't matter to me, as long as he's doing his job."
"You've been working him to the bone lately," Melany warned, walking over. "Are you sure he won't try to revolt? He would have every reason to."
"Please, you know he won't do it. He's brave and smart, I'll give him that, but he's far too loyal for his own good. We can ruin every relationship he has, destroy everything he is, but as long as lives are on the line, he won't raise a hand against me."
"Well I guess that's true. But we do need him in his top shape, otherwise he won't have enough energy or brain power to create any new weapons." Melany took out a handkerchief, picking up a gun from the ground.
"You truly are a mother, aren't you Mel?"
"Only to a few favorites." She stood up straight. "Some would argue that I'm not a good mother though. My ex husband for one."
"He was always an interesting one. Did you ever regret leaving him?"
Melany was quiet for a moment. "I did what I had to do back then. It wasn't the hardest thing for me, I've done worse." She looked down at the ground where the body lay, surrounded in a pool of blood, a hole in their neck. "We both have."
"Well, we only do so when we need to. And this one certainly deserved it, planning to rebel against us. We squashed that before it could even begin."
The two of them froze when they heard sirens in the distance. Black pulled his glove on tighter, wearing them to avoid leaving fingerprints. "Well, we should be going. We have other places to be, other people to visit."
"Time is short, and we can't let those traitors realize we're on their trail. They might try to skip town or something." The genie opened the door, allowing Melany to walk through first. Melany made sure to adjust her floppy hat as she left, hiding her face from any peering eyes.
"Let's just hope we have enough wolfsbane flowers. Too bad they're already home, we can't give them a small warning." Melany slowed her pace as they walked to the car when her phone went off. She quickly answered it. "Hello?"
The two were quiet as they got into the car. Melany started the engine as she listened to the voice on the other line. Finally after a moment or two, she broke into a wide smile. "Oh that's wonderful!" she said. "Thank you so much for your hard work."
"What was it?" Black asked as she hung up.
"Forensics. They came back with who the DNA on the dart belonged to."
"That was fast."
"They are when a giant reward is in store."
Black buckled up. "So, who is our mystery vampire?"
"His name is Roman Hunt."
