Sevyn
"Why should we hire you?"
I swallowed my spit once she asked that question. Why should she hire me? I don't know maybe because I was desperate for a job. Maybe cause I'm slowly growing depressed from not having a job anymore and just sitting in my home all day. Or maybe cause I was spending lots of money on snacks instead of actual food nowadays. Why should she hire me?
I took a deep breath, putting my attention back on the dark skin woman sitting in front of me. Throughout this interview, I'd notice how calmly she talked and the huge smile she kept on her face. Honestly, that was all she did during this interview...smile. It threw me off a little since I wasn't used to seeing someone smile so much. I knew I had to answer her question to the best of my ability though since I need this job.
I cleared my throat. "I think..." I paused. "Actually, you should hire me because of what I'll bring to your company."
She nodded her head and I knew to continue. "I know I'll be a good asset to your company. I know I'll bring out the greatness within myself and this firm. If you decide to hire me, I'll make sure to do my best while presenting the best." I concluded feeling good about my answer. I knew I had this job in the bag. If I didn't then I'll have a mental breakdown.
The beautiful woman clasped her hands together over her desk. "Well, Ms. Moore, I'm looking forward to seeing your best." She began, making me smile.
"So?" I questioned. She stood up quickly, putting her hand out in front of me.
"Welcome to Rome Designs." She eagerly said. I jumped up out of my seat, shaking her hand in excitement. I was so happy I could cry right now, however, I kept my composure.
I'll celebrate later in the presence of my home. Maybe I could hit up Montana and see if he would like to chill. We could go to the bar or out to eat or somewhere that wasn't too loud. I won't say it's an obsession but he does enjoy talking despite me not having anything good to talk about. I wasn't a big fan of talking about myself that much but I could change that if he wanted me to.
"Thank you so much, Ms. Ann." I thanked her, the pitch of my voice higher than usual.
"You're welcome and just call me Mabel. I'm glad to have you here." I let go of her hand, still standing. The joy in my body was taking over me, I couldn't sit down even if I tried.
"Okay. When am I able to start?" I questioned, ready to start working now. I wasn't dressed to impress like I usually was when I worked at Design Gallery.
I had a black and red dress on that went passed my knees. It was something you'd normally see an older working woman wear. It wasn't much of my style but I've been lacking in that department for a moment now. Since I had a new job that all was going to change. I was going back to the Sevyn that dressed like she was in a fashion show. I had to make sure my attitude was different coming in here.
At Design Gallery, people saw me as stuck up. At Rome Designs, I want people to like me for me. It'll take a while to adjust to the new environment but I know I'll be alright. I hope at least.
"I can have you start fresh on Monday. You'll have someone that'll show you around the place and show you what you'll be doing." Mabel answered and I nodded my head.
