Maturity is the ability to think, speak and act your feelings within the bounds of dignity. The measure of your maturity is how spiritual you become during the midst of your frustrations.

I quit on Monday and I've spent my days crying my eyes out.
I kept replaying the events of that night over and over again questioning my own actions.
Did I react too emotionally? Was I making a big deal out of nothing?
But am I not allowed to get mad over things that are important to me?
It was Friday afternoon when the doorbell rang. Looking through the peephole I was surprised to see Luke on the other side.
"What can I do for you, Mr. Reed?" I asked once I opened the door.
He didn't look well. He looked disheveled, with dark circles under his eyes and he even looked like he had lost weight.
"Sophia, I need a few minutes of your time. I won't ask for anything else just for you to listen to me." His pleading voice had me nodding and stepping aside to let him in.
He sat on my sofa with his elbows on his knees and his head down looking at the ground.
I took a sit on the other side of the sofa but remained silent.
"I don't know how to start without sounding like an excuse." He said letting out a heavy sigh. Then he lifted his head and turned his body completely to face me.
"I'm sorry...I'm terribly sorry for the way I reacted and for dismissing your feelings as if it was nothing. I let my own greed and selfish intentions blind me and I did not think of your feelings. I'm really sorry that I let that happen in my presence. That I let Mariano disrespect you in that way. I'm sorry! I really am and I don't know what I can do to fix this." It was shocking to hear Luke apologize.
If there is something I noticed about him in those months is that he never apologizes.
"Apologies accepted" I replied, my voice flat.
"Really? Just like that?" He asked taken aback by my reply.
"Just like that. You apologized which is already progress and I forgive you. Simple as that."
"Then...we're good?" He asked unsurely.
"Well of course Mr. Reed. The unsolved argument has been solved." I said without any change in my tone.
"You're still calling me Mr. Reed. Are you being sarcastic Sophia? I'm really not that good at catching sarcasm." He said, rubbing the back of his head.
"All right, I'll be clear then. How did you come to believe me?"
"Carolina went through the same experience the other day and I also had a talk with Felipe who knew about incidents like these." He explained somehow ashamed that he didn't believe me.
