Three days later, Marinette still hadn't seen Adrien, but she was aware he had come into the house late night and left early in the morning. She wasn't scheduled to work today, but she felt that she should surprise him and visit him. That way he won't have time to think of an excuse, she thought. After 20 minutes she pulled up at the office, and took the elevator to where Adrien's office is.
"You can do this", she told herself, "You can't let him push you around like this anymore". Marinette still loved Adrien, but she felt perhaps they should take a break.
"What if she finds out?", a woman said. 
Mari froze. Was Adrien cheating on her? 
"She won't. Don't worry. She's not supposed to be at work today", Adrien reassured.
"Are you sure?", the woman replied. That voice! No! It couldn't be! Adrien would never...
"I'm sure", Adrien responded.
"Think again!", Marinette yelled, as she flung open the door. There in front of her was Adrien kissing Lila who was on his desk.
Both Adrien and Lila were shocked at her sudden appearance.
"Marinette! I can explain!", Adrien panicked. 
"Don't bother, I've put together the pieces from events from last few months. So this whole time you pretended to love me when you just wanted to be with Lila!", Mari yelled, "I saw the posts! I know you went to our class reunion without even telling me!", her voice was shaky and her whole body trembled.
"Marinette! Please, don't make a big deal out of this!", Lila fake sobbed. Adrien seemed mad that Mari had upset Lila. Marinette realised this and turned to leave.
"Don't worry babe, I'll deal with this", Adrien whispered to Lila as he left to follow Marinette.
Back at their shared house, Marinette was packing her belongings. She didn't know whre she was going, or what she was going to do, but she just knew she had to get out of there!
"I can't believe it! To think he would cheat on you with Lila", Tikki said in disbelief. 
"I should've known! I should've known I wasn't good enough!", Marinette cried, still packing her clothes. 
"MARINETTE! MARINETTE! I KNOW YOU'RE HERE!", Adrien yelled as he entered the house.
"What do you want?", Mari cried, "I can't believe you pretended to love me, while you just wanted to be with her! I thought we were in this together!"
"I just-", his eyes landed on her packed suitcase, "I just wanted to make sure you know what's going on"
Marinette looked up at him confused.
"I don't love you! I only loved Ladybug, but now that Shadowmoth his defeated, its not like she's coming back. Me and Lila have been together for a while now. I only needed you becuase you were helpful to growing the business, but now that we're beyond successful, don't bother coming back to work. Lila will be both my secretary and my top designer", Adrien explained.
Marinette stared at Adrien. Was this really the boy she had fallen in love with? 
"Then why be with me for all these years?", Marinette asked. 
"You were Ladybug, and I thought I could learn to love you as Marinette. But its not the same. And you weren't even ready to do it with me!", Adrien listed.
Mari stared at her engagement ring, and anger started to rise up.
"YOU BASTARD!!", she yelled as she threw the ring in his face.
With that she started to leave, when he realised she was taking the miracle box with her.
"You can take the kwamis, but you can't take Plagg", he insisted.
Before Mari could respond, Plagg cut in.
"Oh yes she can! Do you think I'm gonna stay with you after what you did to my bug?", Plagg yelled.
Adrien had never seen Plagg so mad!
"But-but I'm your owner!", Adrien yelled back.
"No! You were my holder! But even you said it yourself, Ladybug isn't coming back! So why would Chat Noir? I'm leaving with Marinette! I don't know what is going through you're head, but if you want to go be that liar, then go. But don't except things to be going your way from now on. And if I ever see you again, I will cataclysm you!!", Plagg said before going back into the miracle box.
Marinette ran outside to her car before anything else could be said, and sped off. Adrien watched as she left.
But don't expect things to be going your way from now on
The words Plagg had said rung through his ears. Plagg had been a major part of his life and now that he was gone, he felt a bit empty. But if Plagg wanted to chose Marinette over him, then it was his choice. And plus, what would a floating cat who does nothing but eat camembert, know about Lila?

Two days later, Marinette had finished setting up her new apartment, and had sat down to rest for while. She switched on her TV, and instantly froze at what she was hearing. Adrien Agreste engaged to his top designer and secratary, Lila Rossi.
She couldn't believe it. And the ring Rossi was wearing was the exact one she had thrown at Adrien. Marinette curled up into a ball and started crying. She was alone. Mari decided perhaps it was better that she stay with someone for a while. 
Marinette stayed with her parents for a few weeks, in order to heal from her past relationship. Tom and Sabine were ready to kill an Agreste, but Marinette explained to them that there was no point. After a month or so, Mari moved back into her apartment and started applying for new jobs. That was when she got informed, that due to her previous employment, where she was fired for stealing Lila Rossi's design, many companies weren't hiring her. Marinette groaned, as she remembered that she herself had linked up the Gabriel brand to other major companies, and now it was backfiring on her. 
"He used me", Marinette cried, "And now he's thrown me away because he doesn't need me anymore. I helped him become the top brand in the fashion industry. And now he's stopped me from even working my dream job".
Tikki hugged Marinette as best she could with her small paws. Mari didn't deserve this. 
Over the next two weeks, Marinette tried to find a new job, but she kept getting the same results. Everywhere she went she saw posts of Lila and Adrien. No one in her old class had even bothered to contact her about their engagement party. 
The kwamis all realised that Marinette was falling into depression, and tried their best to keep her happy, but there was only so much they could do to heal a broken heart. Marinette barely smiled anymore. For most of her life, she had been used by people she trusted. Marinette was ready to give up. Ready to give up on everything, but she knew she couldn't leave her precious kwamis, and they made sure to remind her that they were always there for her. 
One day, Marinette recieved a mail, which was odd, since no one contacted her that much. She saw the seal on the letter and froze. This was from the Graham De Vanily company. They were sort of the Gabriel brand's rival. What would they want from Marinette?
