Kai furrowed his brows and inspected Rebekah carefully. I hated that bitch. But that was okay, our feelings were mutual.
"Who's that?"
He whispered, but before I could answer Kai, Rebekah turned around.
"Rebekah- pleasure, I'm sure.."
After taking a better look at Kai, an evil smile started pulling on her lips. Her eyes immediately fell onto Kais hand which was wrapped around my waist and that was enough for her to know that he and I were together.
"Well well Layla.. Another victim of yours?"
I put on a way too innocent smile and nodded.
"Yea, let's hope he doesn't end up like your brother."
Her playful grin immediately faded when I mentioned her brother. Stupid whore. As if I wasn't powerful enough to kill her.
"You little cunt-"
Rebekah rushed up to me and just as she was about to slap me across the face, her hand was stopped in mid air. One look to my side revealed that Kai stared at her with his empty eyes.
"Do not touch her."
Rebekah immediately ripped her wrist out of Kais hand and looked at us with anger burning in her eyes. She took a second to get her cool back and walked past us right into the living room.
Kai and I followed her back to our friends, where she dropped a pile of invitations on the wooden table.
Now I knew what her sudden appearance was about.
"The Mikaelson ball is taking place in two days. Not that I like any of you-"
While saying these words, Rebekah laid her threatening eyes on me. In response to her rude words, I just winked at her and grabbed one of the invitations to read through it.
"-But Nik sent me. He is awaiting you, especially Caroline."
Kai was reading the invitation in my hand as well and seemed pretty excited for this stupid ball, unlike me.
After Rebekah had told us everything, she was gone as fast as she appeared. Stefan and Damon looked at each other, debating whether to go or not. Soon the discussion began.
"It's the Mikaelson ball of course we're going."
Caroline squeaked in excitement and since Stefan had no opinion on it, she made him agree to go.
Now it was on the other two couples. Damon and Elena also decided to go and since Bonnie and Enzo never went to something similar before they also agreed.
"What about you two?"
Damon asked with a hint of spot in his voice, making me roll my eyes.
"I'm not going."
Kai seemed surprised that I didn't want to go there. I mean it was a pretty fancy a huge ball, but I had to avoid the family Mikaelson. Even though Klaus and Elijah were good friends, I wasn't a big fan of the other siblings.
"Come on Layla! Your birthday is in three days you need to get in a partying mood!"
Caroline wiggled her brows at me with a playful smirk on her face. I couldn't prevent a giggle from leaving my mouth, but I still wasn't convinced.
"We can go dress shopping today?"
Bonnie knew how to get me on the hook. I turned to Kai who stayed surprisingly quiet on this topic.
"What do you think?"
My boyfriend shrugged his shoulders with a soft smile. He looked from the invitation up to my eyes and nodded.
"Could be fun."
Caroline took that as a yes and enthusiastically clapped her hands, causing everyone else to flinch a bit.
"Let's go shopping then!"
