"Where have you two been!? We've been searching for you all night!............ Sam are you okay?" Gwen asked us as we walked into the Principia.

The time was way past midnight and definitely way past curfew. Technically, Gwen should have reprimanded me on the spot, as she is my superior officer, but she looked more relieved then upset.

Sam yawned. "I'm sleepy. Can we go night night at the fifth cohort now?"

Sam looked terrible, like he had just balled his eyes out, because he did. His eyes were puffy and red. His hair was no longer in a pony tail, so his wavy long hair hung sloppily behind him.

Gwen looked between the two of us. She locked eyes with me. "Did...... Did you both have a good talk?"

Sam and I looked at each other. Sam smiled and yawned. "Oh, yeah. We just argued about which food was better, Mexican or Puerto Rican. I won, of course, after I gave a passionate speech about how Tacos are universally more likable then Jibaritos."

I elbowed him in the ribs while we laughed. "Something like that, yeah."

Gwen looked impressed, she mouthed, "We need to talk later." to me.

Suddenly, Jason burst threw the doors, a gust of wind nearly knocking all of us down.

"Gwen! I checked the barracks, mess hall, the garden and the graveyard. Nothing! Those two-" Jason stopped himself when he saw the two of us, his hair popping with electricity. "Where have the two of you been!? There is an assassin running around and you both think its okay to just- Whoa Sam, are you okay?"

Sam waved him off. "Sorry dude, I don't have the energy to tell that joke again. I'm okay, Rey is okay, we cool?"

Jason let out a frustrated sigh, he started to march towards the center of the principia room. "The three of you, head back to the fifth cohort and get some rest. I'll join you in a bit."

I grabbed his arm as he tried to walk past me. "Jason, you need some rest too. We need to leave before-"

A sudden jolt forced me to let go of his arm, his hair continued to spark with electricity.

"I said, go to bed. That was an order." Jason said, his eyes cold.

Sam cleared his throat. "Uh, hey. Other Praetor here. You can't just order me around like that. And I order them to stay."

Gwen crossed her arms. "Yeah, what's the deal Jason."

Jason sighed. "It's not like I have anything here to work on. Bye."

And with that he walked back towards the exit. I rushed forward and grabbed his arm again. "Jason, what's going-"

"DO NOT TOUCH ME!" He shouted. A gust of wind pushed me back and his voice echoed throughout the empty room. I slid to a stop, stunned.

Jason's eyes glowed electric blue. The air pressure changed as Sam matched his energy, his eyes glowing sea green.

"Tone it down Jason." Sam warned.

The two sized each other up, both of their cloaks flowing behind them from the wind they both summoned within the room.

Gwen got between them. "Enough. Jason, just leave. We'll see you at noon tomorrow."

Jason locked eyes with me one more time, his eyes full of anger and..... pain. He stormed out of the room and took to the skies.

Gwen let out a frustrated scream. "Why do we have to be fighting amongst ourselves!? Can't we just get on the same page!?

"What happened?" I asked Gwen.

Gwen shrugged. "I don't know. He was fine before we went looking for the two of you. I'm not sure what happened in between."
