We're sitting in Liam's truck in the parking lot where the private auction will be held. It was a huge auditorium.
Somehow Liam got Ava's name on the list, Benjamin didn't need his since he was her plus one anyways.
Liam and Evelyn had already gone inside. We're waiting until he gives us a signal.
Ava fixes her hair about to exit the car. She was wearing a beautiful black skin-tight dress that was very sparkly. Benjamin wore a suit, he looks really good. They both put on their masks and exit the car leaving William and me alone once again. Evelyn was wearing a suit as well but in white. Liam's wearing a similar mission suit as us.
The suit we were wearing had a small logo on the left side of our upper chest. I don't recognize the logo but our last names were engraved on the bottom of it. I learned better than to ask questions.
We were all wearing an earpiece to keep in contact with each other.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. If this fails... it's over. For all of us. The auditorium will be filled with all sorts of criminals. Even if we don't carry weapons on us, it can be very dangerous.
William intertwines his fingers with mine squeezing my hand as reassurance. He flashes me a faint smile as I start to relax a bit.
I'm glad to have him by my side at a time like this. He was supposed to stay in the mansion but he insisted on tagging along and said he can do everything on his laptop which he brought along. William's smarter than anyone would think.. for a jock. He lets go of my hand opening the laptop.
Ten minutes quickly go by.
From ten to thirty.
From thirty to an hour...
Still no messages from Liam.
Ava and Benjamin left their phones behind and Evelyn would be too busy up on stage. Liam said it wouldn't take more than fifteen minutes. It has become a bit worrisome. "Liam hasn't texted me," I tell him.
"He hasn't texted me either and I don't see him anywhere," William says taking a close look at each security footage that was on the laptop.
I double tap on the earpiece unmuting it. "Has anyone seen Liam?"
"Ava and I haven't," Benjamin says quietly but loud enough for us to hear.
Evelyn hums a 'no'
I'm guessing she can't speak at the moment but that's all I needed. "He hasn't given any signal, I don't know what to do!"
"He said that if anything happened to him, you were going to lead the mission," William says, his earpiece was already unmuted.
I'm not cut out for this. I can't lead this mission, I'll only end up getting everyone killed! I'm nothing more than a circus freak.
My breath starts to quicken as my heart rate rises. William notices that I'm in a state of distress so he places a hand on my thigh rubbing his thumb and circles. He looks up at me whispering, "Breath, you'll be okay Bash.."
But will I though?
We both mute our earpieces.
"Maybe his phone died? It could be a possibility"
"What if something happened to him..?"
I don't know what I would do with myself.
William turns back to the laptop trying to track down Liam's whereabouts. Even if his phone were to die, he can still track it. The computer dings and a pair of coordinates show up. "I found him" He quietly breaths out.
"What?! Where is he?"
"It's hard to say, He's two blocks from here"
He... He left? Just like that?
William puts the laptop aside and crawls into the driver's seat as I crawl into the passenger's seat with the laptop in my hands. He unmutes his earpiece saying, "The mission will continue as it is... Bash and I need to go look for Liam" And with that he presses on the gas. His driving eventually turns into speeding.
Six minutes before the destination has been reached.
"Okay- okay.. pull into that empty parking lot by exit twelve," I tell him.
William nods doing exactly what I told him slowing down the car. "You need to raid the place," He says grabbing the laptop and typing a few things in. Will pulls up the security footage of this place but it immediately cuts out. "Shit.." He mumbles.
"I'll be fine, just wait for me" I grab a loaded gun from under the seat and proceed to leave the car. I reach the building hesitantly going inside. It's quiet.. too quiet.
I continue to take a look around finding any trace of anyone that might be here.
As I continue to walk, I hear a gunshot come from one of the higher levels so I head straight for the stairs.
There are about 5 floors. It's exhausting but I'll do whatever it takes.
Eventually, I arrive on the last floor. I stroll around a bit noticing the hallways were rather empty. I slowly approach the door that led to the rooftop. I take out my phone. Still no message from Liam. I scroll through my contacts pressing my brother's number. After a few rings, he picks up. "Gabe- Gabriel! I need your help, Liam's missing" I tell him in a state of panic. "I sent you my address, Can you check how many people are in the building?"
"There are ten armed guys on the roof, Do you have a weapon of any kind?"
"Of course I do!"
"Good, be careful"
I open the door walking outside. I see Liam tied on a chair badly beat. "What the fuck do I do?!" I whisper- yell cringing at the view. He's a bloody mess.
"Aim away"
"What?!"
"They'll kill him if you don't, not like I care"
I groan annoyed. Everyone seemed distracted, No one noticed my presence at all. I hang up putting the phone back in the suit's pocket.
I sneak past all of them reaching Liam. They must be some of the dumbest people on the planet. I remove the gag from his mouth. "..Bash?"
"Shut up and stay still"
I quickly untie the rope letting Liam free until someone notices and shoots at me but I move away on time. Liam stands up from the chair pulling a spare pistol from the inside of his pants and shooting at them. I run back to the door avoiding all the bullets. I put my hand on the doorknob and pause for a minute looking over at the older man. He has a gun to his head being held by one of the armed guys.
With shaky hands, I point the gun at the thug's head.
And pull the trigger.
