Chapter 9- Facing the Future

                                    

                                          
The all too familiar rhythmic repetitive beeping of a heart monitor invaded my ears as my eyes remained closed. Slowly opening my eyes, I felt as though I had woken up from the longest and worst nightmare that I've ever had. Looking around revealed that I was once again in a hospital. Next to me was a chair, and sitting upon it was Hagumi who slept upright with a grin on her face. Seriously, was there ever a time that this girl wasn't smiling?
"Hey, you. You're finally awake," said Aiko, the nurse who had taken extra effort to take care of me last time I was here. "Feels nostalgic huh? It's almost like you never left."
"How long have I been here?"
"Since yesterday. Seriously, what have you been up to? This is the second time you've wound up here this month!"
"It's a long story," I replied, "How long has she been here?"
"She came here yesterday in the ambulance along with you. Not that she was in need of assistance or anything like that. She just insisted that she would come with. Something about not wanting to leave your side."
"I see..."
"Anyways, I'll leave you two here. I don't want to intrude on two lovebirds," She winked as she left Hagumi and I alone in the room.
The rising sun crept its rays of light into the room, illuminating Hagumi's face. She began to stir as the light struck her closed sleeping eyes. She rubbed them before looking at me.
"Y/N!" She jumped out of her chair, "You're awake! I thought I was going to lose you again! You have to stop making me worry like this!"
"What about everyone else? Is everyone okay?"
As if on cue, the members of Afterglow along with Eve walked in.
"He's awake!" Ran exclaimed after seeing me.
"Fufu you should have seen Ran chan. She was so worried about you that she was crying." Moca added.
"I-I did not cry!" Ran shouted back, "B-but I was really worried about you..."
"You guys are alright? What happened after I lost consciousness?" I questioned.
"Well..."
-Eve's POV-
Yesterday during the wedding
As I watched from afar, Y/N collapsed onto the ground.
"Y/N!" We all shouted in unison.
"So it is true..." Kaito murmured in disbelief, "You really did use this marriage as a means to try to kill me! I can't believe this!"
"It's not what it looks like!" Hana, Y/N's mother tried to explain, "That boy is just making this all up! C'mon Kaito, I would never do something like this!"
"Suits! Take Hana out of here and call an ambulance! And let Kokoro's friends go. I'm calling off this marriage!" 
"Yes sir!" The suits all responded as they ran around to obey Kaito's orders. Misaki and I were freed as the suits apologized to us for everything that happened.
"And you!" He turned to Hana, "I'm going to make sure you rot in prison for the rest of your life for this! Putting that boy's life in danger, trying to kill me, and using my daughter as a pawn in your game. This is unforgivable!"
"Wait! Hana called out as two suits apprehended her and pulled her away. "You have it all wrong! I would never do this! R-right Kokoro? I only had this marriage in the best of your interest!"
"Yeah right!" Masuki interrupted, "Look at the state of this wedding! Does it look like anything's going right? I hope you enjoy life in prison bozo! You won't be missed!"
