- - - - - - - - - - - - -The 7 year old smiled as he pulled his friend across the grass field- they had to get back to his house for lunch. Quackity smiled at the other kid, running with him happily. He was 2 years younger than his friend, making him 5.
"C'mon! Mama's cooking lunch!" Dream exclaimed, holding Quackity's hand as they ran. When they got to Dream's house, they knocked and waited for his mother to open the door. "Why hello boys, just in time for lunch," His mother smiled softly after opening the door. They quickly went in, going to sit at the table happily.
"Mama! Thanks for lunch!" Dream thanked her before digging in. "Thanks Mrs Taykin!" Quackity started eating as well. After they were done, they were going back outside again. "Bye bye mama! I'll be back before dinner!" Dream waved bye to her before catching up to Quackity who had ran ahead. "Q! Wait up!" Quackity turned and stuck his tongue out before continuing to run with a smile on his face.
Quackity pulled a flower out of the grass from where they were sitting, looking at it in his hand for a moment. "Dee?" Quackity looked at Dream, the now 12 year old was laying on the grass with his eyes closed. Dream looked at Quackity with a smile.
"Promise to.. always be friends?" Quackity handed him the flower as he spoke, Dream chuckling softly as he got it. "Of course Q, friends forever. Till death do us part!" Dream raised his hand in the air, smiling widely. "Yeah!" Quackity laid down with Dream, listening as the older kid went on about something Quackity couldn't quite figure out- he found it nice to just listen to him talk.
"And then he- Sorry, I'm talking too much again.." Dream cut himself off in the middle of his story. "No no, I like listening to you talk Dee, what did he do next?" Quackity smiled at him, leading to Dream smiling back and continuing.
Dream wrapped his arms around Quackity, whispering quiet reassurances into his ear. One of Quackity's pets had passed away the night before and he was understandably upset. Dream had already taken a trip to the shops with a bit of money he got on his birthday in order to get some ice cream for Quackity- he knew how much he liked it.
Quackity leaned into the blonde, silently crying into his chest. Dream gently rubbed his back, slowly moving them both to a bench. "Hey, Q?" Dream spoke up when he could tell Quackity had stopped crying and visibly relaxed. "Mm?" Quackity hummed, looking up at him. "I got two tickets to this movie, Ma can take us if you'd wanna go?"
Dream offered- he had, admittedly, been planning this for a while. They hadn't been able to hang out together much outside of school so he wanted to make it somewhat special. Quackity smiled and nodded. "I'd love to go! When is it?" They started discussing their new plans- Dream was glad he could cheer the 11 year old up, at least for a while.
"Q! Hey! Dude, I missed you!" Dream shouted as he jumped on the younger, smiling widely. Quackity rolled his eyes but smiled, hugging Dream. "Yeah yeah, I missed you too Dee," Dream had been sent to visit family half way across the country and had been busy, so they hadn't been able to talk much for about two months.
"How's Bunbun?" Quackity questioned- he remembered Dream telling him about a bunny he had named. "She had babies! Yeah, crazy right?? We didn't even know until-" Dream started rambling again, which Quackity gladly listened to. Dream finished up his story and asked Quackity more about what he did, adding small comments here and there.
The 12 year old cracked up laughing when he got Dream to tell him a funny story about how one of his cousins tripping over into something. She ended up fucking up her arm a little bit but it was nothing serious.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Dream jumped out from behind one of the trees on Quackity's way to their meetup spot. He knew he scared the shit out of Quackity. "DuDE- You're seriously gonna end up getting decked in the face one of these times," Quackity laughed, confirming that Dream hadn't upset him.
"Sorry sorry, anyways! Present! Here! I wasn't sure what you would want so I kinda just.. hoped?" Dream laughed nervously, handing Quackity a bag. They walked to their meetup spot and sat down, Quackity looking in the bag right away. His eyes widened and he covered his mouth for a moment.
"Are you serious?? Dude- I-" Quackity couldn't even form words. "Ah- If you don't like it, I can get you something else-" Dream just assumed the reaction was a negative thing, until Quackity interrupted him.
"No way! I love it, thank you! Seriously! Holy shit.." Quackity had been really wanted a certain movie pack which he always claimed was too expensive, but Dream had been determined to get it for him. It was his 13th birthday after all!
Quackity grinned as he wrapped an arm around Dream, walking with him to their meetup spot. It had always been just them meeting there, it was how they both always liked it. They liked having their own spot where they could sit and be themselves. They had both made it clear they weren't fond of the idea of others being there.
"Hey guys!" Quackity ran ahead, Dream growing confused. There shouldn't be anyone at their spot, nobody but them knew where it was and Quackity never said anything about inviting other people to their spot. Dream kept his smile though, maybe this was a good thing, as uncomfortable as it made him feel. Dream kept walking.
"Q? Who are they?" Dream asked, seeing a group of people sitting in their spot- so there definitely were people there. "Oh, these are my friends, Dream," Quackity hummed."You uh.. You never told me you wanted to invite someone to our spot?" Dream wasn't mad or upset with Quackity, he was just confused and something else he didn't know how to explain- disappointed, maybe?
"Well, it's our spot. So why would I have to tell you if I wanted to invite people?" Quackity was getting defensive, Dream just wanted to sit down and forget he ever asked. "It's just.. you know.. it would've been nice to know.. It doesn't matter though, let's just sit down," Dream smiled, hoping Quackity would just accept it and sit down.
"You know, you never let me do anything. You're so-so selfish," Quackity stated, completely ignoring how Dream had completely left his group of friends because Quackity didn't like them, and how he- Dream shook his head, it didn't matter. Quackity could have an opinion.
"You're always so fucking loud and stupid and you just won't stop talking!" Dream clenched his fists, but he understood. He felt the same about himself sometimes. "I'm sorry, I'll try to stop.."Dream didn't mention how he spent weeks convincing his mother to get him diagnosed with something so he could get medication to handle it.
Not just because he spoke a lot, but because he couldn't focus on anything and it felt like he just couldn't do anything anymore. "You know, I'm just so sick of you saying that! So what if you say you'll try? We both know you're too stupid to do that. We should just, stop being friends," Quackity turned away, crossing his arms.
"But- But what about our promise? You know, till death do us part?.." Dream kept his head down. "Maybe you should just go die then if that stupid promise means so much to you! Hell, I can give you the shit to do it with!" Quackity laughed as if it were a funny joke. Dream turned away and started walking, stopping for a second.
"Fuck you," He spat out before walking away.
Dream clenched his fists as the whip made contact with his skin, refusing to let Quackity hear him in pain. "Stupid dog," Quackity scoffed as he kicked his side to make Dream roll over onto his back. Dream looked anywhere and everywhere but his face, he didn't want to see this face of his best friend on the person who had been tormenting him.
Dream watched as Quackity tied his hands together. He stopped looking as he was pulled to his feet, knowing what was probably going to happen next. It didn't keep him from involuntarily crying out as a literal nail pierced through both of his hands. Quackity grinned, hearing the sound he had been wanting to hear since he stepped foot in the cell.
Dream breathed heavily, closing his eyes tightly when Quackity grabbed his chin. "You look.. so much better like this," The man hummed. Dream didn't say anything, he didn't want to give Quackity what he wanted.Dream kept his eyes closed, though he didn't know if it was a great idea due to the pure fear of not being able to see what was happening.
Dream tensed as he felt a knife on his chest, the blade cold against his skin. He forced himself to stay quiet as he was cut into. "Now everyone will know who you belong to, dumb pet," Dream couldn't stop himself from talking after he heard that. "I miss my Q," He quickly stopped himself, surprised he just blurted it out.
Quackity scoffed but Dream could tell he hesitated, at least for a second, before plunging the knife into his leg. "I didn't say you could fucking speak. Now shut up and just- just take what I give you!" Quackity yelled and Dream could almost hear the old Quackity, the younger Quackity.
