y/n notices one of the school buses coming in and smiles. she sees her redheaded friend come out with a blank face while she had her headphones on.

she began walking over to her but stopped in her place when she noticed the counselor talking to her. she noticed how troubled max looked. she shrugged it off and walked over to her with a smile.

"max!" y/n exclaimed.

the redhead flinched slightly as she wraps an arm around her shoulder. max calmed down and gave her a small smile.

"you ready for the pep rally?" she asked.

max nodded, "i guess."

"you guess?" y/n questioned, analyzing her body language. "max, are you okay?"

"yeah.. just peachy."

she frowned and removed her arm. "you can tell me anything you know that right?" she took a hold of her hand.

"yeah, yeah, of course," max mumbled.

"uh so.. i better get ready," y/n sighed.

"right... you're on the band," she said as the two walked next to each other.

"yeah, robin recommended it to me, i thought it'd be fun to try," y/n shrugged. she pulled on her hat and max snickered.

"so you went from dork... to another level of dork," the redhead flicked the feather on her hat.

y/n chuckled, "shut up."

"make me," she smirked.

y/n choked up on her words at that, a flustered look on her face. "i-i... i gotta get ready, bye," she scurried away.

max watched her leave with a longingly gaze.

"look, i'm not saying that my girlfriend is better than yours," dustin shouted over the loud noises to mike. "it's just that suzie's, like, a certified genius."

max took her seat next to them and glanced at y/n who stood by robin. y/n noticed her and sent her a smile. the redhead smiled back and sent a wave at her.

"you do realize el saved the world twice right?" mike pointed out.

"and yet you still have a C in spanish," dustin stated. mike just shakes his head at him.

the music stops as the cheerleaders finishes up. the students were still cheering.

"and let's hear it for your tigers!"

the basketball team runs out while the marching band playing their drums. lucas was apart of the team and was ecstatic. his friends were the opposite. dustin, mike and max clapped slowly and looked out of it.

"good morning, hawkins high!" jason yelled into the microphone. cheers were given in response. he takes off the microphone from the stand and walked closer to the audience. "first off... hey. first off, i'd like to thank each and every one of you."

"without your support, we wouldn't be here," the blonde spoke. "give yourselves a big hand!"

the audience cheers and starts clapping loudly. lucas was also clapping and looked at max, who still had a expressionless face. he raised a hand to wave at her and she looks away from him.

"and of course, of course, i have to give a special shout-out to the best and the prettiest fans of all time," jason added. "the tiger cheer squad!"

claps and cheers all around again.

"chrissy..." he looks at the blonde girl with her hair in a ponytail. "chrissy, i love you, babe."
