"Oppa, you are a mean one. Look at you. You are two sizes bigger than me. If I pull at the rope even just a little, you are supposed to let go and let me win." Yejin was laughing her lungs out.
She playfully let her knees give when they reached Jimin's side who was rolling in the sand with laughter, sinking both her and her husband down in the sand.
"A win is a win, Yejin-ah, don't be a sour loser."
"Better a sour loser than a cheater."
"I didn't cheat, Yejin, Jimin, tell eomma that I really didn't cheat or I will tickle you"
"But you did, appa," Jimin laughed from where he was sandwiched between his mum and dad.
"Normal people just let the loves of their lives win, you know." Yejin said, the three of them now rolling in the sand with glee.
"Are you by any chance saying you let me win because I am the love of your life?" Chaein countered as he got on all fours to lunge after his son and wife who had joined hands to push him in a false sense of retribution.
"Eomma! Appa, Jimin shrieked in excitement as he geared to run for his life.
"Park Chae In, I hereby withdraw my promise to fall more in love with you every day. I just can't, not with how unromantic you are becoming by the day." Yejin laughed as she edged Jimin who was hiding behind her, and herself out of the reach of her husband who was slowly gaining in on them with all intentions of tickling them till they reconsidered their stands on this matter.
"Count yourself only loved just as much as you were loved yesterday, you beast." His mother said, feigning disappointment in her husband, who was obviously not bothered and seemed way too confident of his place in his wife's heart.
When he finally caught up with them, he lifted his son up and whirled him around until they were both dizzy with the movement and laughter and fell onto the sand with a blissfully exhausted thud.
He then started beating his chest like King Kong while he roared like Simba, claiming his victory against his weaker opponents and shamelessly savoring it.
This had Jimin and his mum doubling over in laughter. They couldn't take it any longer. Jimin crawled over to his appa and pushed him playfully, trying to make him stop. He only managed to dig both of them deeper into the
sand.He then turned his head back to look at his mother who had thrown her head back laughing hysterically. Her eyes, which were identical to his, had completely disappeared, and happy tears were running down her face.
She looked so beautiful.
She was so happy, and that made Jimin happy too.As if sensing his gaze on her, she paused, captured, and held Jimin's gaze with such intensity Jimin could swear he saw a certain raw emotion briefly shadow the features of her
angelic face.Pain?
Before Jimin could figure out what it was, his mum burst out laughing even harder this time, clutching at her chest in demonstration of a happiness that didn't reach her eyes.
A sudden rush of worry washed down and started to eat up steadily at Jimin's heart as the sound of his mother's laughter only seemed to get higher by the second.
"Is everything alright, eomma?" Jimin asked in a low troubled voice, his angelic face laced with shades of concern.
But his mother only continued to look at him as she laughed even harder, hot, uncontrollable tears running down her face. It was no longer the normal sweet melody that Jimin loved to hear so much. She was almost mocking him, laughing in his face.
Suddenly, the sky was soaked in darkness and the air became a little too chilly for fresh breath.
Right before Jimin's very eyes, his mother face went up in flames, the blue and yellow tongues licking at her face and slowly melting her into Thanatos, clad in all her emptiness veiled in a pitch black glory.
He knew something was terribly wrong. His beloved mummy was giving up on them. So he screamed as hard as he could to reach through to her before she was fully consumed into the flames of nothingness
"Eomma, eomma, please don't leave me." Tears ran down Jimin's face as he begged the woman he loved most in this world not to give up on him.
"You promised me mummy, you said you would never leave me alone. You said I was your world. I will be everything you want me to be. I will make you proud. Just, just stay here with me. I will take care of you. I love you so much, mummy. Please don't leave me. I can't live without you."
"But I can, Jimin, and now you and your father are going to have to learn to live without me too," came his mother's bitter reply.
"Eomma, please do not do this," Jimin beseeched her, but she only glared at him through her flashing eyes.
"I lied, Jimin. I never wanted you and your father in the first place. I choose freedom now. I choose to be free from the dead weight of you and your dad." His mum said in a bitter voice as she rose from the ground and disappeared into thin air, leaving behind her only an echo of a witch's cruel laugh ringing in his ears.
From a distance, just slightly above his heart wrenched wails, he could hear his dad's voice trying to calm him down, telling him that they would be just fine.
But it was too late. His little heart was experiencing it's first betrayal, his faith was failing and the feeling of trepidation clothed in the burning face of his mother was steadily catching up with him. It was crawling up him from his feet leaving him cold everywhere it touched. Its monster mouth opening wide to reveal the scary darkness that kept calling to him, drawing him in...
"Waaaaah, waaaaah, waaaaah..." The loud sound of a baby crying on Jimin's alarm chimed away into the silent room, jolting a sleepy 26 year old Jimin from his umpteenth worst nightmare in the last fifteen years .
He hated these visits from his mother the most."Trust her to find the perfect way to ruin my week even from the deepest of the pits of hell." Jimin spat bitterly before heading off to the bathroom to groom himself for work.
