i was watching over kids play in the snow in their front yard. it was dark, their parents were on the porch watching. i was perched on a street light, my night fury avalon in the tree next to me.

i smiled as i waved my hand around, making little snowflakes dance through the wind over to the children.

"hello astrea," i heard a voice behind me. i turned around quickly, seeing jack frost hovering behind me. i felt my body tense.

who the hell is astrea?

"jack frost," i sighed, crossing my arms. "the one and only," jack bowed.

as he did so i jumped from the street light, avalon catching me on her back and quickly flapping up into the sky.

i turned around and watched as jack stood up straight, looking around in a panic when he didn't see me. jack looked up and over at me, making eye contact. i turned around and leaned down, "let's go, avalon," i whispered. avalon grumbled in agreement and started flying faster, still ascending into the sky.

"i gotta say," jack chuckled as he flew up beside avalon and i, matching our speed. "for someone who has a dragon, you really can't get away too fast," jack smirked. i rolled my eyes, tapping avalon's shoulder. avalon quickly angled down, tucking her wings in as i leaned down, high pitched whistling sounding in the air as we dove.

jack quickly followed, looking slightly bored. i huffed and pulled slightly on avalon, making her even out and extend her wings, shooting us up into the air.

jack's eyes widened at our sudden change in altitude, but he quickly readjusted and began flying back up to us.

as jack got closer, the scales on avalon's back began glowing purple as she charged lightning around us. i looked down and made eye contact one last time with jack before a blast of light made avalon and i invisible.

jack looked around, trying to find us but ultimately gave up, throwing a globe to get back to the pole.

"alright, let's go back to the cave.." i sighed. avalon bellowed softly, flying us to the forest.

it had been a few days. i was a bit paranoid. i felt like i had been followed everywhere since my encounter with jack. avalon could always sense how anxious i was, so she stayed by me whenever she wasn't doing dragon things.

apparently, she needed to go get some food right before the guardians showed up.

i panted heavily as i ran through the streets of burgess, hearing the guardians chasing after me. i turned into an alley, only to find it was a dead end behind a building.

i turned around quickly, looking around at the semi-circle of immortals closing in on me.

"you had a good run, mate. but let's make this easier. just come with us and this can all be over," bunny stated, spinning his boomerang in his hand.

sandy was crossing his arms while glaring at me. north had two swords in his hands as he spun them around occasionally. tooth wasn't holding any offensive stance, but was filling the semi-circle around me. bunny had his boomerangs, some explosive eggs in his strap as a just in case. and jack was glaring at me while holding his staff.

"look, you don't want me with your group," i stated as i got closer to the corner of the alley.

"manny disagree," north shrugged, "now come." he demanded, tooth nodding along.

"what's with the outfit? you weren't wearing that last time i saw you," jack raised a brow, tightening his grip on his staff.

i looked down. it was a dragon scale suit made of the scales avalon shed. it was fireproof and had many pockets. it had wings like flying squirrels have, ready to use.
