The last year has been busy, exhausting and exciting. All to lead to today.
I roll over in our bed to find myself alone. I groan as I remember that Chris had stayed in Lisa's house for the night. The whole not seeing the bride superstition coming into play for both sets of parents.
I get out of bed and head to the bathroom. I look at myself in the mirror and find a glowing, happy face. I can't help the smile that envelops my face, knowing that by this afternoon I would be Mrs. Evans.
If you had asked me when I first met Chris if I could see myself marrying him, I would have laughed in your face and kept walking. Now, I can't see a future with anyone else.
I take a warm shower in total silence just to enjoy the calm before the storm. This time it's a lot different. When I married Alex, we went down to the court before he left for basic and got married.
My dad was less than pleased when we did that, but at that point there wasn't anything he could do. For today, he's been absolutely giddy in a way only my dad could be. He's looked as intimidating as ever this week, but he's had a small smile on his face that actually has made it to his eyes.
After my shower, the front door of our house bursts open with Ash, Mel, Riley, Mandy, Cassie and my mom all coming through. I laugh at the loud talking and plans on who will get ready first.
They notice me in the kitchen already up with a mug of green tea in my hands. "Good morning ladies, what has y'alll so chipper this morning?"
My friends all look at me confused as my mom tries hard not to laugh. "You're joking right, this is you trying to joke?" Mel looks at the rest for affirmation.
"I was just enjoying my morning tea, and y'all just busted in here, not even bothering to knock, what's going on?" I have a serious look on my face, as I watch the panic start to rise in my friend's faces.
My mom can't hold it in any longer and bursts out laughing. "Oh, you got them good honey bear. Your sarcasm is always right on point."
I start laughing at the still confused looks on my friend's faces. "I was kidding, I just wanted to rile y'all up a bit, especially since you did just bust in here without knocking!"
They all just look at each other still confused before glaring back at me and shaking their heads. "I totally forgot all about your sense of humor!" I laugh at Cassie as she approaches me and hugs me. "How are you feeling? It's a whole lot different than before."
I smile, hugging her tightly. "I feel good. Nervous and excited all at the same time, but it feels right."
They all take turns coming to hug me before they start ushering me into the room to get ready. My mother hired hair and make-up people to get us ready as my wedding gift. So, we just have to sit and let them do their job.
I'm feeling giddy and relaxed as I sip on a glass of champagne and get my hair done.
I still can't believe the day is finally here and I will be Mrs. Evans by the end!

We arrive at our venue a few hours later. We chose to have the ceremony and reception at Oceanview Nahant. I was sold as soon as I saw that we could get married by the ocean. Which is why we decided on a summer wedding.
I'm in the brides room when there is a soft knock on the door. The photographer walks in with a big smile. "Hey, Charlie! We want to do the letter exchange picture soon, are you ready?"
I look at her and nod with a smile. We had decided to write a short letter for each other to read as our backs are to each other. We won't see each other yet, but we would still be able to feel each other.
