The Autobots are hit with double tragedy and uncertainty.
(Y/N) watches Ratchet try to figure out the incomplete synthetic Energon formula, hoping he'd be successful, aware of how the Autobots' Energon supply is. She knows he's hard at work and doesn't mind that Ratchet ignores her most of the day.
(Y/N) lies on the bed, feeling the baby's kick.
"Hopefully, your father is done before you decide to come."
Though I'm already thirty weeks pregnant, something like that can take long. (Y/N) worries.Little does (Y/N) know that her husband is using himself as the test subject as he tries to perfect the formula until she watches Ratchet's strange behavior around the other Autobots and a sudden desire to join the mission.
"Ratchet, you know our baby could come tomorrow?" (Y/N) asks, "I thought you'd -."
"I'm tired of staying here when I should be helping them!" Ratchet argues, ignoring the fact that a baby is in the mix.All (Y/N) can do is worry until disaster strikes three days later.
(Y/N) watches Optimus and Bulkhead carry a critically injured Ratchet to the medbay. Dreading hearing his vitals are critical. She waits four long hours to see Ratchet. Optimus cannot hide how bad things are as (Y/N) walks by him. Optimus fears she'll watch Ratchet die, but it's not right to not let her say goodbye.
"I told you'd stop using herself as a test subject, not look what has happened," (Y/N) sobs.A few minutes of silence is interrupted by the beeping indicating Ratchet's spark has stopped. Optimus lifts (Y/N) in his servo as Bulkhead tries to restart Ratchet's spark. Trying for ten minutes before calling it.
"NOO!!" (Y/N) screams and runs into the room she shared with Ratchet. The Autobots worry about (Y/N) as she avoids everyone. They know it's not good for anyone after losing someone, but with her having a baby soon, this is very concerning. They try together to talk or even let somebot in, worried she'll have the baby alone.
(Y/N) has been focused on how she'll raise her child without Ratchet noticing she's been in labor until she feels the top of the baby's head and a lot of blood going down her legs.
June walks into the room, unprepared to see (Y/N) delivering and bleeding, but she worried (Y/N) was in labor alone and brought some things. She quickly texts Optimus a list of supplies she still needs in the medbay before figuring out what is happening.
"I didn't know it was time," (Y/N) panics.
So she hasn't been pushing, but the head is coming, shit. June worries. No time to get to a hospital before finishing delivery.Even without (Y/N) pushing, the baby is slowly coming. June watches (Y/N) get weaker, fearing her body is putting more energy into getting the baby out. Optimus knows he no longer has what June needs to help (Y/N). There is nothing they can do as even using the ground bridge wouldn't give them enough time to get (Y/N) to the hospital. The two watches (Y/N) pass out, and the baby is delivered.
"She... she didn't pass out," June regrets informing Optimus.
The two hear the crying baby and help them, hoping the baby isn't dying.
"This little (boy/girl) is healthy," June concludes.
Optimus calls Fowler to help remove (Y/N)'s body.It saddens the agent about what happened. He lets the Autobots and June keep the baby and decide what to do. Promising to do all he can if they decide to keep the baby. The baby is taken to the hospital for a more invasive health check.
"We have to tell the kids," Bulkhead points out, "how else are we going to explain (Y/N) 's baby is here? Or if June adopts the baby?"
"It wouldn't be right to lie and say (Y/N) left the baby in our care and left town," Optimus agrees, "even that is depressing."They agree to tell the kids, who agree June should adopt the baby. Arguing that the baby has friends who would have loved them even if their parents were alive. Optimus adds an important issue; the baby is likely a hybrid and will struggle to understand who they are without the Autobots. Of course, June sets rules, arguing the baby will not stay at the base for long until they are older. Perhaps a few years from now, they can live at the base.
For now, everyone can only hope June can adopt the baby.June returns to the base two weeks later with the autopsy report.
"Precipitous labor. Things went too quickly, and her body knew she was in danger. Resorting to the fetal ejection reflex knowing she was dying,* June explains.Fowler drives into the base ten minutes later, improving the mood with good news; June has adopted the baby, and he has been assigned to protect the baby like the three kids. Now everyone argues over who's naming the bay. Optimus, Fowler, and Jun know it'll be one of many arguments.
