"I was wondering when you'd come back to your room," Charming said as I closed my bedroom doors, which scared me.
After a quick shout, I placed my hand on my chest, trying to calm myself down.
"What are you doing back in here, Charming?" I asked harshly.
"I wanted to talk to you. Before..." Charming stopped talking before shaking his head, "I wanted to talk to you, princess."
I watched as Charming patted a spot on the bed beside him. I stayed where I stood.
Do not show him any weakness, Belle. He's just upset because he's not able to get to the throne like he wanted to. Don't bite the hook that he has set out.
Charming sighed as he walked up to me, "Belle, I'm sorry for how I acted to you all those years ago. I'm sorry that after 12 years, this is the first time you see me." Charming grabbed my hands and held them in his, bringing them closer to his chest.
"I would never admit this to another person, Belle, but there hasn't been a single day where I don't think about you," Charming said, "I hate myself so much for leaving. For leaving you behind and not saying anything. All of my feelings towards you just as they were from 14 years ago."
I could feel tears threatening to spill out. I couldn't believe he was saying this. Is this some wicked dream? Did Fairy Godmother do something to create this cruel delusion?
I sighed softly as I felt Charming brush his hand against my cheek.
"Beautiful, you shouldn't cry," Charming said, "You're... Well, you're too beautiful for tears."
"Charming," I finally spoke. Only thing was, I lost the words that clouded my mind for so long.
As I looked up at Charming, I felt like we had gone back 13 years ago. I hated to admit this, but I realized all of those old, buried emotions and feelings were still as strong as the day that Charming and I had first met each other.
"Yes, Belle?" Charming asked with a sweet smile on his face.
"Tell me this isn't some cruel prank, Charming," I said as a tear slipped down my cheek, "Charming, I've had... I've had this recurring dream with you in it, since the day you left. Why do I feel like something bad's going to happen?"
Charming shook his head, "It's not a prank, darling. Yes, I may be a knight, and knights pull numerous pranks, but I would never prank you, princess."
"Then how do you explain the bad feeling that I have?" I asked.
Charming froze, thinking for a few moments, "Maybe it's because you're scared of me leaving again? And I would never do that to you again. Trust me."
I sighed and rolled my eyes, "And how am I supposed to trust you again, Charming?"
Charming shrugged, "I know that it may not make much of a difference, but perhaps this could change your mind."
"Charming, what do yo-"
I was cut off by Charming kissing me. Still wearing that silly cherry-flavored lipgloss. It took a moment before I kissed Charming back.
Before I knew it, I had my arms draped around Charming's neck as we kissed. Charming then wrapped his arms around my waist.
Finally needing some air, we pulled away from each other but stayed in each other's arms.
"Now, does that seem like it's a dream to you?" Charming asked.
I blushed and sighed, "Given our past, a kiss doesn't really mean anything, Charming, But I will say, A plus for the effort. And I'm surprised you still have that silly lipgloss."
Charming shrugged with a smile, "It was originally yours. I took it so I could always have you on my lips."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes before pushing myself away from him, "Wow, that was so cheesy, Charming." I walked over to the balcony and draped my arms over the railing. My head was spinning now.
"If that kiss didn't mean anything, maybe this will mean something," Charming said from behind me.
"Charming, I'm sure that there's noth-"
I froze and cut myself off when I turned around, seeing Charming on one knee, holding out a beautiful ring.
"Charming, that's... That ring is stunning," I said, really shocked by this motion.
"Belle, will you accept this as a promise ring?" Charming asked.
"Promise ring?" I asked.
Charming stood up, "There are some things that my mother is planning, but I want nothing to do with it. What I want is you. With this ring, you will never be alone, for I will be by your side. Through the darkest moments, I will fight for you. Promise me that in the end, you will be mine?"
My head was spinning and my heart was pounding. My dream come true.
"I promise, Charming," I said as I walked up to him and kissed him.
When we finished, Charming grabbed my left hand and slid the ring onto my ring finger.
"Charming, it's absolutely beautiful," I said as I looked at the ring.
"I thought it was. Out of all the rings I saw, this one reminded me of you," Charming said.
I blushed deeply and grabbed Charming's hand, leading him to the bed. We laid there for hours, talking and cuddling.
Maybe I really was going to get my Happily Ever After.
