-Hagumi's POV-

"Hagumi, you're out of tempo again." sighed Misaki as we all stopped playing.

"Don't be such a downer, Misaki! Let's take it from from top." Kokoro said.

We began to play Alien Alien once more. The images of Y/N in the river and in the hospital bed kept flooding my mind. I couldn't focus.

"Fuee~ we messed up again." Kanon said as we stopped playing.

"Hagumi, is something wrong? It feels like you've been very out of it recently." Misaki asked.

"Yeah, why aren't you smiling?" Kokoro questioned.

I suppose I should tell them. After all, HHW was made with the goal of making the world smile. If there's anyone who can make Y/N happy, it's them!

I explained the whole situation to all of them.

"It looks like we will have to get this little kitten to smile once more." Kaoru suggested.

"Are you sure we should go to visit him?" Misaki added, "I mean, it didn't seem like his mom wanted you going near him again. Not to mention, you are kinda the reason he's hospitalized."

"Don't say that. I know once we visit him, we will put a smile on his face. Band practice is hereby cancelled. Everyone, let's go visit Y/N right now!" Kokoro announced.

-Y/N's POV-

I stared at the ceiling. I was unsure about how to feel. On one hand, I was free from school and home for the time being. On the other hand, I had practically nothing to do. The boredom was starting to kill me.

I sat up. The doctors are impressed at the speed that I am recovering at. Just yesterday, I wasn't able to move around without feeling jolting pain or soreness. Today, there was only little soreness when I moved. I could walk around freely and do whatever. They called it a miracle. However, the doctors wanted me here for a few extra days just to make sure I have a smooth recovery.

The door opened and Aiko, one of the nurses taking care of me, walked over with a stack of books.

"I got some books as you requested. I didn't know what genres you like so I just took some books from my daughters room. I hope you don't mind romance. It seems like that's all she reads these days." She said as she set them down next to my hospital bed.

"Thank you so much, I've been dying of boredom here." I scanned the titles of the books that she brought me. Aiko wasn't lying, all of these books truly were romance.

"You know, despite my daughter loving romance novels, she isn't in a relationship. Honestly, she's too awkward to even talk to any guys. I don't think I'll be having grandkids any time soon." She sighed.

"Really? I'm not in a relationship nor am I romantic either. Maybe I could learn a thing or two from these books." I joked.

"Haha maybe you could. Say, perhaps I should introduce you to my daughter, Kaede. She's around your age. You're such a sweet boy, Y/N. I wish I had a son like you."

My head began to race. What was this? Is this what a parental figure is supposed to act like? Someone would be proud to have me as their child?

"Y-yeah, maybe you'll have to sometime. It's not like I have anything going on right now."

"That's great! Anyways, I'll leave you be. I've got to check on the other patients. I'll make another round here in a few hours. You take care."

"You too, Aiko." I waved. I looked at the stack on books once more and picked a random one to read.
