The next morning, Carina was awoken just as the sun was rising by the sound of Maya sobbing. She rolled over and opened her eyes. "Maya?"

Maya was sitting up in the bed, the thin sheets hanging loosely around her sensitive skin with her head in her hands, sobbing.

"Bella, Bella, Maya, what's wrong?" Carina asked softly, sitting up.

"Everything hurts." Maya sobbed.

Moving closer to her, Carina gently places her hand on Maya's back. "Where does it hurt baby?"

"Everywhere." Maya sobbed. She felt like she was on fire. Her long blonde hair fell loosely around her shoulders.

"Okay, why don't we try a cool bath?" Carina asked softly.

Maya looked up at Carina with her tear soaked eyes. She was trembling as she nodded slowly. She sniffed.

Getting up, Carina gently lifted Maya into her arms, carrying her into the bathroom and sitting her on the counter.

Maya flinched slightly as Carina's hand brushed the back of her leg by accident.

"I'm sorry baby." Carina breathed out.

"I shouldn't have gone on that damn roof. This isn't your fault. This is my fault. I never wanted to be a burden on you." Maya sobbed, coughing and hiccuping.

Carina shook her head and gently cupped Maya's cheek. "You are not a burden. I love you more than anything in the world."

"I can't do anything by myself anymore." Maya sobbed, not meeting Carina's eyes.

Carina moved to start the cool bath water. "Maya, I want to marry you, which means being there when you're hurting."

Maya looked up at Carina. "You want to marry me?" She sniffed.

"More than anything." Carina responded softly.

"I want to marry you too." Maya said, swallowing thickly.

The Italian woman turned to look at Maya. "Let's get you in the tub."

"I shouldn't have gone on that roof." Maya said.

"Let's not dwell on the past." Carina responded softly, gently stripping the rest of Maya's clothes and carrying her over to the tub. She put Maya down in the cold water and kissed her forehead.

Maya closed her eyes as the cold water started to cool her skin.

"You're amazing Maya." Carina whispered softly.

Maya shook her head slowly but didn't open her eyes.

Grabbing the cup beside the tub, Carina gently began pouring the water over Maya's body.

"This is helping, thank you." Maya said quietly.

"Anything for you my love." Carina responded softly, continuing to pour the water over the blonde.

Maya's muscles began to slowly and visibly relax.

"Are you ready to go back to bed?" Carina asked her softly.

"No. I've spent all day everyday since I fell through that stupid roof in bed." Maya said. "I want to go back to work, I want to be me again."

Carina sighed softly and ran her fingers through Maya's hair. "Bella, you're not ready."

"I don't want to be in pain anymore." Maya said. Tears began rolling down her cheeks and she sobbed.

Carina just began singing an Italian lullaby to calm her.
