My eyes fluttered open meeting the harsh soreness of my joints, my body was sore from last night's activities. He kept his promise alive, my body has never felt this sort of pain before but I was loving every bit of it. Very painfully I crawled out of bed, I dressed in a pair of denim shorts and a white crop top. I tied my hair up in a ponytail with my small gold hoop earrings dangling from my ears.My eyes fell to my stomach, and my hand flinched against my flat stomach. There wasn't a baby inside me yet but just imagining myself pregnant scares me, I wouldn't even know how to act like a decent mother. My head tilted, and I stuck my stomach out trying to see how I'd look pregnant.
I can't and I won't.
My hand fell back to my side, I can't have a child.
I shook that feeling away, my legs carried me out of my room before I could overthink everything which is a bad habit of mine. I walked slowly down the stairs with my mind elsewhere that I almost didn't realize the black-haired woman standing in front of the entrance door with a small infant in her arms, my steps halted when our eyes met.
"Are you looking for someone?" I asked, she started gently bouncing her baby trying to soothe it.
"Is Tiago here?" The young girl asked, her black hair fell off her shoulder.
My brother? I stepped closer to the girl, she coward away and shielded her baby away.
"May I ask who's looking for my brother?" I said.
Her eyes lit up, she stepped closer no longer being afraid of me. "You must be Talitha." She whispered.
"Yes, now who are you and what do you want with my brother?"
"I'm Jules Meyer, and I'm the mother of his child." She said.
What the fuck?
Meyer as in related to the southclaw, an enemy we've been running for a very long time. Jules Meyer, she's the devil's daughter. Her eyes fell behind me, they softened with relief meaning my brother must be standing directly behind me. I turned around coming face to face with my big brother, my eyes were red and glossy with betrayal.
"I'm sorry, but my dad found us and I had nowhere else to go." She told my brother.
He kept his eyes on mine, not leaving to meet hers. He knows exactly what I'm thinking, and he's not denying anything because it was the truth.
"Tiago." She demanded his attention, he snapped back to reality and rushed over to his child.
He picked up his son, which I assume is a boy since the blanket is blue. He cradled his child in his arm while his other hand stroked his shaken baby momma's cheek, she touched his hand enjoying the comfort. It hurts watching him be a father to someone else, to love someone way more than he could ever love me. He wasn't just my brother, he was a dad figure for me.
"Are you alright?" His eyes lowered to meet hers, she nods hesitantly.
"I think so." She says. " I woke up this morning to him holding Enzo."
My brothers shoulders grew tense, they both were exchanging looks with each other. Suddenly his eyes glanced back to mine, you could see the hurt in my eyes. My jaw clenched with the heaviness of his lies, my eyes were blinking with confusion.
"Let's talk in your room, I don't want anyone to hear us." Tiago said, directing it to me.
I didn't respond, how could I? Instead, my feet carried me back up the stairs to my room with the small family following behind me, I stood in the middle of my room with my back facing them. My fingers pressed against my lips trying to figure out how this could have possibly happened.
"How long were you in prison for?" I asked, my voice appearing shaky.
"Talitha, please." He begged, he wanted to continue lying to me.
"Tell me, right now." I demanded, my voice was laced with venom.
I wasn't looking at him but I could feel his heavy eyes on my back, waiting for me to turn around. "A month or two." He responded and my heart completely shattered.
My mouth couldn't stop quivering, tears were starting to slowly trailed down my cheeks. I was trying to hold myself together but it was all boiling up, he had a choice to come back for me and he never did.
"You left me behind." A sob left my mouth but I bit my bottom lip harshly trying to swallow it. "This whole time, you've been lying to me."
"Lucio made me sign a contract, I had no choice." He said. "You have to believe me."
"You had a hell of a choice compared to me." I shouted.
The lengths I went to try and find him, the way I've done stuff for Lucio and prayed he'd drop the charges, everything I've done is for my brother, and the whole time it was him who wanted to stay away. I turned around finally facing him, his eyes softened when he saw the pain he's caused written across my face.
"This is why you want me to get pregnant because my fiancé is the only one who could pay off her father."
"I wish it didn't have to be this way but I need to look out for my son, and you're not the only person I have to protect now." He said, his finger softly running across the baby's rosy cheeks.
Ouch, that hurt me badly. His wife stared at me with nothing but pettiness in her eyes, she looked just like her father which made me feel sick to my stomach. I stepped closer to the happy little family, I held my chin high while looking into his eyes which unfortunately look a lot like mine.
"Don't worry big brother, I'll get pregnant." I said, my voice sounding forced.
"Thank you." He sounded relieved and it made me feel disgusted.
I wasn't some dog they could just breed whenever they like. I stared at the man who looks like my brother but isn't him. My brother died a long time ago and now it was only his ghost lingering around.
"You're dead to me." My eyes held no emotion whatsoever.
His eyes shifted, and his smile dropped. I tried walking around his wife but he caught hold of my wrist, his head was shaking rapidly. "No, don't say that please."
I stared down at his hand locked around my wrist, my eyes glanced up to meet his. "After we pay her dad, I want your little family gone and I never want to hear from you ever again." I spit out, angrily.
His eyes were turning red, and they were begging me to stop talking but I don't care anymore.
"I hate you.." I whispered, my voice cracked. His hand slowly released me with a haunting look in his eyes, did he think I'd react differently? He's been lying this entire time, he could've saved me and he didn't. "And I don't want you anywhere near my child."
I was all alone because of him, all those years ago I wanted to kill myself because that's how lonely I was.
His wife pulled him back by his shoulder, she stared at me with a look I didn't recognize. "We'll be gone." Jules mumbled, while her hand wrapped around the back of his neck trying to comfort him.
"Good, and if you know what's good for your child, you'll keep him far away from my father." I said
"Or he'll ruin him like he did with his own children."
I slammed the door shut, my chest was heaving up and down and my strong front started crumbling down.
