He was just about to sign off his id at school when he received the news, and it felt like the ground had suddenly caved under his feet. He managed to steady himself just in time the car of his Uncle stopped in front of the entrance to get him.
By the time he gets inside, the older man's face was far grimmer than he wore it to be. The feeling of being instantly in the throes of grief brought him back to the first time when he had been caught between her boyfriend and the girl's fight about whether or not, Daniel should be allowed hang out easily with her.
Removing the thought from his head when they reached the hospital, his feet touching the cold tiles as he shot up inside and looked around to see her mother running up to him, her pain is obvious at the sight of the boy.
Daniel's eyes moved from her mother to scan around the lobby, trying to find any sign of her. "Where is she, Auntie?", he asked as the older woman clutched to his arm as if she needed the physical support.
"She's in her room waiting for you as the last person to see her", she said as she straightened up, pitying the boy when he closes his eyes for a second at the meaning in her words.
Not wanting to waste any more time, she led him inside the elevator and when it opens, straight toward the girl's room. Upon opening the door, they both walked inside and found her lying in the bed, an oxygen was barely keeping her alive. At the sound of the soft call of his name, Daniel looked over his shoulder at her mother as she stood in the door, eyes focus on her only child.
"Her boyfriend left her", she whispered quietly, trying not to wake her up. "He doesn't even listen to us to be there for her"
Without removing his eyes from the older girl, he asked - outraged. "He left her in her last days? Why?"
"He took one look from his own damage to her because of their accident, and he left", her mother explained, setting a hand on his shoulder. They both stood looking down at her, at Y/N. "She's all alone now"
Daniel shook his head. "No, she's not. She still got me"
Her mother turned away from looking at her daughter to look him in the eyes. Her eyes showed how heartbroken she was. "She already lost her boyfriend. I don't think that she'll be able to leave peacefully if her only friend leave her as well"
