Chapter Three: Heroes Vs Villains

“He got over 700 meters!?”

“Finally, a hero-like record!”

Chikako felt like the only one who was extremely disturbed by his outcome. There he stood, clutching his hand tightly, and despite one finger being concerningly bruised and his eyes glossing in unshed tears, he was still smiling with pure determination and stubbornness written all over his face. His score even exceeded Chikako which was an extra painful blow for her. How could people be praising him? They should be worried about what he could do, he’s a potential rival now.

“What is the meaning of this?” Chikako heard someone speak. Looking up, she saw Bakugo giving the boy a death-glare, eyes shining in rage that Chikako has never seen on anyone. His hands were open and sparking, his stance in a defensive position as if he were to attack.

To everyone’s surprise, he charged forward with the intention to harm. The green-haired boy flinched and stepped back, an action that was too automatic.

“Tell me what’s going on, Deku, you bastard!” Bakugo roared, his right arm sparking in anticipation that grew the more he got closer.

But to the boy’s fortune, Bakugo was held back by a long, gray scarf that wrapped around half his face and chest.

“What the-?” Said Bakugo in surprise, fighting the stronghold of the scarf with all his might. “These cloths are hard…!”

Aizawa stood, completely calm while he let his scarves contain Bakugo. His hair was raised up, eyes a bright red. “They’re weapons for capture made of carbon fire,” he said. “Woven together with metal wire made of special alloy,” he continued. “Honestly, don’t make me keep using my quirk over and over.”

The rest stood nervously, watching the drama between the two stark opposites and the teacher. Chikako did not expect to be witnessing deep drama over her classmates so soon. It was only the first day. She hoped it won’t be like this all the time, hero work does not involve petty squabble and childhood tension. She hoped it was only these two with the past.

Like a snap, Aizawa blinked, his scarf returned to his neck and his hair was down. Then he was back to his lazy, monotone self in an instant. He urged everybody to quickly finish up the rest of the test.

“Now that the mini soap opera is done,” Chikako scoffed, turning to her cousin. “Let’s refocus on the test Koko, there’s a few more and we can’t lag behind.”

“Sure!” She cheered. Then when the boy returned to them and Iida, she was all over him in concern, flinching at the badly shaped finger. “Are you okay? Does it hurt your finger?”

“U-Um, only a little bit…” he said sheepishly. “But I can manage through the rest of the tests.”

Sure, Chikako rolled her eyes. Grabbing her cousin’s arm, she pulled her forward and away from the sheepish boy while giving him a stink eye. The remaining three tests, Chikako did decently in. The sit ups and seated toe touch was done by her as a human. But she aced the long-distance run as a Cheetah again. By the time it was all done, everyone was tired, the only purely exhausted one was the green haired kid who was sprawled against his back on the ground panting heavily.

Chikako gathered around along with her classmates, facing their teacher to hear the results.

“Okay, I’ll quickly tell you the results,” he said. “The total is simply the marks you got from each test,” Aizawa explained. “It’s a waste of time to explain verbally, so I’ll show you the results all at once.”
