Chapter Two: U.A.
At the first sound of her alarm, Chikako hopped out of bed and headed straight to the showers. It was still dark outside, so she had to be careful to not wake her parents, but it was hard because every step was heavy and had urgency. This day marked her first day at U.A. and it would be an understatement to say she was excited.
After shower she dressed in her school uniform. She looked at herself in the mirror, the gray blazer wasn’t too tight, fit just perfectly. Though the skirt…the skirt was really short and considering how tall she was, Chikako felt an odd sense of embarrassment and happiness. Humming, she made her own breakfast, eating just as her parents walked in, looking tired and weary.
“Are you taking me to school, or are auntie and uncle?” She asked.
“Us,” Suki responded. “Your dad still feels bad about not taking you to the exam?”
Chikako turned to her father who was pouring more coffee than should be acceptable. The news of the girls getting in was a never ending celebration. Both Uraraka families always made it clear they were proud of their daughter in every way they could. The two didn’t mind, they were quite proud themselves.
“I already said it was okay.”
“Still want to make it up to you,” he said. “And get back at my brother by stealing his daughter.”
The women rolled their eyes. After eating, they arrived at the other Uraraka household. Chikako took the initiative to fetch her cousin. Ichiro was the one to answer. He looked down in confusion when he saw his niece standing there with a bright and expected smile on her face.
“Chi Chi, what are you doing here? Isn’t it a bit too early?”
“No, we have an hour until school starts.” she stated matter of factly. “You can never be too early.”
When he didn’t respond, she added, “I heard the school’s really big.”
Sighing, he nodded and opened the door wider for her to see Ochako walk out into the hallway, school uniform and all. Ichiro stared at the girls. They were looking more and more like each other every day, it was incredible. When Ochako’s eyes met her cousin’s, she squealed, running to embrace her.
“You look so cute!”
“You look cuter!”
They got into an overlap of complimenting each other on their school uniform. It took a while to get the girls back on track and after waving goodbye to her parents, Ochako got into her cousin’s car and they drove towards their school for three years.
“I wonder what kinds of people we’ll see there.” Ochako said.
“Yeah, the competition would be fierce,” muttered Chikako. “We’ll need to keep track of all their strengths and weaknesses in order to come out on top.”
Sweating nervously, Ochako’s brown eyes stared at Chikako in slight concern. When she said those words, Ochako was more focused on making friends, but Chikako was scouting the competition. Not that she was surprised, but she wished sometimes her cousin would stop viewing everyone as the enemy. She hoped U.A would be able to change that.
The long ride was fairly short, and again the grand scale of U.A. took their breath away, neither would be able to get used to the appearance of the top school.
“Bye!” The girls waved as they walked towards the entrance.
“Bye girls! Good luck!” Kota and Suki responded. They watched them go until they entered the building before driving away.
