Lena woke up with a slight hangover. All the wine from the night before had given her a slightly nagging headache, but nothing desperate. In her wake, she remembered where she was. She was lying on her side on Kara's bed, facing the window. Gradually she opened her eyes, in that room lit by the morning sun. She found herself thinking the room reflected the person who inhabited it, light and bright, just like Kara. She smiled slightly when she saw that Kara had provided 2 bottles of water and aspirin, placed on Lena's bedside table, anticipating that she might have a hangover in the morning. 'Always so thoughtful and careful', Lena thought. Taking knowledge of her body gradually, without moving, she felt Kara's arm, which hugged her waist. Wait... what? Kara's arm! Kara was sleeping next to her, snuggled up, hugging Lena around the waist!
That surprise was enough to wake Lena completely, but she didn't dare to move. She hardly dared to breathe differently. Her heart skipped a beat and it looked like it wanted to jump out of her chest. But she noticed that, little by little, the surprise of realizing Kara's arm around her turned into a pleasant feeling of comfort and security. Feeling the light weight of Kara's arm, Kara's thighs brushing against hers from behind, the warmth of Kara's body against hers, Lena almost fell back to sleep.
Kara woke slowly, coming out of that state just before waking, between sleeping and waking up. She started to hear the birds outside, and every second she heard a little more. The passing cars, the footsteps of people on the street, a cup that was touching a saucer in the apartment below, a heart beating fast very close to her... for a moment she stopped concentrating on the sounds and, still with her eyes closed, she felt a familiar scent, which she was so fond of. Lena's perfume. Very close, coming from those hairs that she breathed there against her face... Wait. Next to her face? Kara's big blue eyes suddenly opened and her mouth opened in a soundless scream. She was hugging Lena, her face close to Lena's neck, her dark hair perfuming the pillow.
'Oh, Rao... what's Lena going to think of me? She's going to think I'm taking advantage of her! What have I done?' Kara then thought that if she withdrew her arm on impulse, she would wake up Lena and be more embarrassing. She decided that she would move as slowly as possible, taking her arm from around Lena's waist and slowly turning over in bed. Lena wouldn't even notice that she was cuddling with her. Cuddling! Rao! Kara practically held her breath. She then started to lift her arm gently, but what was her surprise, in this calculated movement, Lena realized what she was doing and turned to her, green eyes wide awake.
"Good morning, Kara!"
"Oh, Lena... uh... good morning! Rao, I'm so embarrassed... sorry about that!"
"Sorry about what?"
"For invading your space, waking up like this, hugging you... I swear I was unconscious! I would never take advantage of a situation like that! See? This wouldn't have happened if you'd let me sleep on the couch! I am so, SO embarrassed!" Kara covered her face with both hands. She felt her face burning.
Lena openly laughed at Kara's reaction. She took the blonde's hands away from her face and looked at her.
"Kara, don't be embarrassed, it was no big deal. You just held me in my sleep, that's all. And, as you said yourself, it was an unconscious movement. I wasn't thinking anything bad about you."
Kara looked at her with eyes so blue in that morning light, almost childlike, as if apologizing for doing something wrong. Lena laughed again.
"I'm glad you just hugged me, you didn't kick me out of bed. I'd rather wake up cuddled than wake up on the floor with a broken leg."
Lena's humor relaxed Kara a little and made her laugh.
"Okay, better this way. Did you sleep well?" Kara asked.
