Gong Jun peered out of the window as the van approached the headquarters of Hunan TV.
His relationship with one of the country's top TV networks was steadily improving. Last year he had been on <Happy Camp> twice, before the program unfortunately got taken off the air. Then he was invited for season 4 of <Chinese Restaurant>, even though he could only do a few episodes due to scheduling conflicts, they were willing to take him. Following that, they asked him back to do a song for the New Year Countdown concert despite his lack of singing skills.
And now, he was here to record <Hello Saturday>, the Saturday night variety show which took over <Happy Camp>.
2021 was truly a year of impermanence.
He was as upset as anyone when <Happy Camp> got taken off the air, but he was now glad for a chance to be on the new show.
He breezed through the mandatory health checks, and strode into the familiar stage set. Except for the motifs and backdrop, nothing much had changed.

But the lineup of hosts had been almost entirely replaced, and only He Jiong remained.
He did not know any of the new hosts except for Dylan Wang He Di, who was a Louis Vuitton ambassador and fellow Sichuan native.

However, he was at least acquainted with some of the other guests. Jia Ling, the livewire comedienne, and Wang Su Long, a popular singer.
As the others arrived, he greeted them courteously in turn.
Dylan Wang He Di sat and chatted with him, happy to speak their Sichuanese dialect. They hadn't had a chance to talk much at the Louis Vuitton fashion show in autumn, so they enjoyed this chance to catch up.
