Ch.8 ~ Vatos & The Warning Pt.2

Start from the beginning

Pulling out a pocket knife and lifting his foot onto my shoulder, I threatened. "I'll keep a foot this time." The boy looked up at me with fear. "So I'll ask again... where have your buddies taken Glenn?"

The boy still wouldn't answer me. Instead his eyes flicked between my face and his foot. Having enough of his silences I pulled the trouser leg down grazing the skin of his ankle with the blade.

"Wait! Wait! Wait!...I'll talk." He said holding his hands out to show surrender, pleased with his answer I shoved his ankle off my shoulder and stood up.

"He's all yours." I say to Rick as I walk past him and leant up again one the desks.

"The men you were with took our friend. All we wanna do is talk to them, see if we can work something out." We watched as the boy pursed his lips and nodded at Rick, fear still in his face.

After packing up our things and tied the boys hands behind his back we began making our way out the main part of the city to the outskirts.

As we walked I stopped when an idea came to mind. "I'll go no further." I announced.

"What?" Daryl said turn to me. I didn't look at him, instead stared at Rick with a look that said 'trust me.' Once he nodded he tugged Daryl's arm and then continued.

When they were out of sight I jogged over to the line of forest trees following the road and started to follow them quietly. Soon we made it to the location the boy had spoken off.

I saw T-Dog descend from the group and made my way around the building looking for a way I could get in and hide out.

It took me a while but eventually I found a ladder leading up to the roof. Climbing up it quickly, I stopped when I saw two men with Glenn there. Taking a deep breath in and not letting it out I tried to focus on the sounds around me.

Talking to my left where Glenn was being held caught my attention. Lucky for me there was a window with busted boards open so I stretched over the ladder, scaled the wall a little and jumped in.

The first thing that caught my attention was the stairs leading to the roof. I knew I didn't have long, I ran to the window overlooking a courtyard and peaked through a small gap in the boards.

I could see Rick and Daryl holding their guns to the young boys head and just about seeing who they were talking to. Again I listened carefully to what I could hear and though it was faint I could just make out what was said.

"I see two options. You come back with Miguel and my bag of guns, everybody walks. Or you come back locked and loaded. We'll see which side spills more blood."

The sound of footsteps moving pulled me away as I quickly ran over to the window I came in through and scaled the wall back to the ladder where I hovered till I heard the boys on the roofs dragging Glenn down.

Once down I climbed up and jumped on the roof running to where Glenn had been and waved my hands. The others had left but Rick remained pacing as he waited, once he saw my signal he nodded and ran to catch up with the others.

Turning around I made my way through the door to the roof and back into the room I had been in. Quietly I made my way down to the door leading up here and tried to open it but it wouldn't budge.

Cursing under my breath I ran back up to the roof and looked around. The place was in ruins. Bricks everywhere, roofs with holes in, boarded off windows not leaving many options but there was one.

I jogged to the left side of the roof where I had come up on the ladder, took a breath and started running to the other side. When the edge came closer I jumped landing harshly on the roof that was slightly lower down. I tumbled and rolled till my back hit the ledges.
