I sat in line swinging my legs in the chair as I fiddled with my number. The only times I ever came to the bank as a child was definitely only ever in the private banking section. It was so embarrassing when I had to learn that people needed numbers printed on little papers to have someone speak to them. As I impatiently waited for my turn to come up I thought about how today was such a slow and awfully boring day.
Time for a bathroom break. I sighed. If I have to sit in this chair for one more second I'm going to burst.
Wandering down the back hall I followed the bathroom sign until I arrived at the large walnut doors. Just as I was about to enter the second set of doors, I heard the yells.
I creeped back to the original doors I entered through, and peeked through the glass. That was when the men came.
Wearing black ski masks, the first one stood in the center holding a rifle and shot a bullet at the ceiling.
"EVERYONE DOWN NOW!" He yelled, tossing a duffle bag to his partner. They were fully covered with matching gear and waved their weapons down on everyone.
What happened next would be the pivotal moment. Now I'd suspect that they never planned to harm anyone. They just wanted everyone down until they got enough cash to leave.
I gasped and slid lower down the door peeking just enough to see the employees with their hands above their heads and one shakily leading them to another hall. My heart was beating so hard in my chest I found it impossible to move, I could only watch them in shock. It felt like something straight out of a movie. Only I hope this time I don't end up dead. In total they were three men and two of them were watching over the people. The other two were getting into the vault. As he held his guns and paced around them, I noticed two men. Two of them on the floor were moving and it looked like they weren't going to sit still. Suddenly one stood and attacked the criminal, pulling off his mask in the rush. After that it was a blur. Between the screams and movement, the gunshots started.
Hiding behind the door I watched as men and women, even a child fell to the floor, with blood seeping out of their bodies. I gripped the wall.
I need to hide. I need to hide. I need to hide.
Just as I was turning to leave, a hand grabbed me.
