[content warning: some intimate stuff toward the end, nothing really happens but Nat's being blunt and sexy lol]

Natsuki thought the conference might kill her from sheer boredom.

While focused around pediatrics, the convention was poorly organized, leading to huge gaps in the day while the presenters and organizers tried to figure out who went when and where. Doctors, nurses, and other PhD-wielding attendees wandered aimlessly, wondering if they had enough time to pee or not.

How are your feet?

Still attached,
still feels like walking on knives.

Sounds fun!

10/10 would recommend.

Natsuki just thanked the gods that she hadn't been asked to speak at this crazy shindig and gorged herself on free food and shitty coffee. The food in general wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either; the spread was mostly sandwiches that were either dry or soggy, and the fruits and vegetables laid out as sides were over- or underripe. Even the coffee was mediocre: burnt but still drinkable.

The main redeeming grace of the whole weekend was that Kirishima texted her frequently when he wasn't working, giving her something to keep her mind alert and awake—beyond the unsettling amounts of caffeine she drank—in the name of academia.

Find any typos yet today?

Not yet, but the day is young and
my brain is not awake.

Give me half an hour and ask again.

She found herself doodling in her fancy folio, the one with the engraved nameplate on the front that her grandfather got her when she graduated with her bachelor's degree, wasting her nice paper and not paying any attention to the droning speakers. But the pictures turned out decent—sketches of the other attendees, hearts, stars, a doodle of Kirishima in his hero costume—so she sent him a picture, not bothering to explain.

Of course, the sketch of himself was all Kirishima could focus on.

Why did you draw me?

I was thinking about you, duh.
Is that a crime?

If it was, then you'd have been
in jail a long time ago lol

Am I a fugitive now?
Should I expect wanted posters
when I come home?

Now? How about always?
I just let you go free because I can
keep a better eye on you that way.

That sounds awfully reckless of you,
Mr. Riot.

I live on the edge.

HA

HA HA

I'll believe it when I see it.

Between the convention speakers, Natsuki called Sumiko.

"Aren't you supposed to be nerding out about medicine with other giant nerds?" Sumiko groaned, "Why are you bothering me on my lunch break?"
