Long chapter ahead.. y'all deserve it 😘. Also it contains a few triggering scenes so if it's too much you can just skip the chapter, even tho this is a pretty essential part of the book.

3 year old Nicki 
"Come on Nic." the girl said tugging her little sisters arm up the stairs.
"Where we going?" Nicki asked innocently.
"Umm.. uhh to p-play hide and seek, mama's gonna come find us." 
"Okay!" Nicki beamed not realizing the distraught look on her sister's face.
They both ran into one of the guest rooms in their big New York city mansion opting to hide out in the cupboard.
They both sat down in the mahogany brown wood cupboard, it wasn't a particularly big one, but it was big enough to fight two lanky little girls.
After awhile Nicki could feel her tummy rumbling a little.
"Lolo.. I hungry, mama's takin' too long!" Nicki whined tugging at her sister's sleeve.
"Just a little more, the game will soon be over." Her sister said wrapping her arms around her protectively.
"But, I no wan' play again.. I hungry!" Nicki cried out.
"Shush!" Lauren said but she didn't expect it to sound as harsh as it did.
Which made Nicki cry even more, "I no wan' stay here, I wan mommy Lolo mean!" she cries.
"Sor—" Lauren was suddenly cut off by the sound of a loud bang sounding like it came from a little down the hall.
Lauren immediately put her hands over Nicki's mouth to shush her.
They heard the sounds of screams resonating from the hall, and more sounds till it became quiet.
They stayed still, not wanting to take any chances, until they felt the cupboard being yanked open.
They tensed up but later calm down realizing who it was.
"Mommy! You found us. Game over!" Nicki excitedly screamed jumping into her mom's arms. 
Her mom only smiled a little holding onto her, "mama, Lolo being mean and— wait your eye mama!" Nicki gasped noticing the bruising black eye.
Lauren only looked at her mom knowingly, not saying anything .She was way too young to be knowing or seeing all this stuff but she knew about it and had seen it all and she couldn't change that.
"I fell, it's no big deal, okay baby?" Her mom cooed tickling her.
"Stop. Stop." Nicki giggled squirming in her mom's arms.

"I guess I kinda didn't really notice the weight of what was going on back then but it got worse over the years." Nicki sighed letting her tears fall silently.
