i let out a sigh as i sat in the lobby. today is one of the days where i have to check in with my boss and all of that shit. i'm just waiting until it's time to go into his office to talk to him.

i sent a snap back to cleo. i closed out of snapchat, and i went to mine and billie's messages.

since i had my airpods in, i went back and re-listened to some of the voice memos she sent me earlier. she's been sending them a lot recently, and she's able to send them more than actual text messages.

i'm not complaining though. i love her voice. whether she's talking, singing, or doing things i won't name, her voice is just amazing and ethereal.

every time i hear her voice, i just melt. i seriously cannot explain how much i love it.

as i was re-listening to the voice messages that billie had sent me, someone sat beside me. i only glanced at them, but i turned my attention to them when they started to speak to me. i took one of my airpods out to hear them.

"you started working here a month or two ago, didn't you?" she tilted her head.

"yeah, about two months ago now," i nodded, though i was looking at her kind of skeptically.

"that's cool. well, i'm kacie," she flashed a smile as she held her hand out to me.

i stared at her hand for a moment. i debated with myself until i remembered billie's words from the other day.

you should try and make some friends in new york, mama.

it'd be good for you to have some friends there.

i took in kacie's appearance. she had caramel skin, and she had dark hair, which was braided. she had light blue eyes and a warm smile.

i placed my hand in her's, and i shook it. "i'm sage."

"nice to meet you, sage," she gave a nod. "i like your hair; the black and blonde like that looks cool. i also like the cut. it's sick, dude."

"thank you," i smiled. "i like your hair too; it's pretty."

"thanks," she grinned. "so, do you like working here so far? or are you already wanting to quit?"

"oh, no, i love it," i chuckled. "i especially love the fact that i get to work from home; it's great. i'm not really a people person..? it works out."

"i get that; people are bitches," she shrugged a bit. "but yeah, working here is pretty great. i love working from home; it gives me more time to spend with my boyfriend and friends."

"imagine having a boyfriend," i teased.

"girl, trust me, i do not like being attracted to men. he's okay though."

i let out a laugh at that. she laughed too.

"you seem pretty cool, sage," she told me. "i've gotta get going, but you should give me your number so that we can hangout sometime or something?"

i nodded. "alright, yeah."

she handed me her phone. i went to her contacts app, and i added my phone number. i saved my contact as "sage" before i handed her phone back to her.

"i'll see you later," she told me as she stood up. "this weekend, maybe, if you're free?" she suggested.

i thought for a moment. "yeah, i'm free. i'll see you then."

she flashed a smile. "alright, bet." she walked off after that.

she seems nice. she's pretty cool too.

eventually, i was able to go to my boss's office. i got up from my seat, and i made my way over to it.

it's a bit later. i'm back at my apartment, and i've already showered. i'm sitting on my couch with tito as i'm watching the seven deadly sins.

i finished eating the noodle soup that i had made. i practically forced billie to teach me how to make her noodle soup, because it's just so good. i eat it more than i'd like to admit to.

i glanced down at my phone. i saw that it was icsis. i opened snapchat, and i texted her back. she's going on some date tonight, and she's nervous about it, so she's been asking me for advice.

i sat my phone back down, only for it to start ringing only a few moments after. i picked it up, and i smiled as i saw that it was billie trying to call me.

it's been a little over a week since my whole little breakdown or whatever over missing her. i wouldn't really say things are any better than they were, but we're definitely trying to make this work.

we're both still busy, and there's nothing we can do about that. the best we can do, is to still try and find time for each other. we've been staying up almost all night on facetime, even if it makes us miserably tired the next day.

i still miss her like crazy though, and that's not gonna change until i get to see her in person again.

"hi, baby!" i greeted excitedly as i answered the facetime.

"hi, mama!" she grinned. "how was your day?"

"it was okayyy," i dragged out. "oh! i, uh... i made a friend today..? kinda..?"

i watched as her face lit up. "really? hell yeah, love. that's great."

"yeah," i bit my lip to hold back a smile. "she seems nice and cool. we're supposed to be hanging out or something this weekend."

"that's amazing, baby," she smiled sweetly.

i smiled too. "how was your day, lovebug?"

"long. it was very long," she let out a small sigh. "and very tiring. i wanna sleep."

i frowned. "go to sleep then, bil. i'm not stopping you."

"yeah, but... i wanna talk to you," she pouted.

"you need your rest though," i pouted too. "go to sleep, baby; it's okay, i promise. we can always talk tomorrow."

she jutted her bottom lip out further. "okay, okay. i love you."

"i love you. so, so much. and i miss you hella."

"i miss you so much," she let out a breath of air as she laid down. "will you stay on the phone with me while i sleep? i don't want you to hang up."

"of course, i will, angel. don't even worry about it. just go to sleep, and get some rest. you deserve it so much," i told her seriously.

"thank you," she gave a soft smile as she laid there. "i love you," she said again.

"i love you."

for the rest of the night, i watched as she drifted off to sleep. i smiled as she did, because she looks adorable when she sleeps. i eventually drifted off to sleep as well.
