The next morning

As usual, at five o'clock in the morning the shrill sound of her alarm clock roused her from sleep.

"A new morning - a new horror" she muttered to herself in a sleepy voice as she rolled more or less gracefully out of bed.

As much as she loved her job, she hated the early rising that came with it and envied Regina for always starting her day at eight in the morning, when she herself had already been at work for an hour.

On her way to work, as she did every day, she stopped the cab a few blocks from the building where she worked to get coffee and donuts at the bakery for her colleagues and herself.

"Two large blacks, a latte, a cappuccino and ..." Only now did she realize she wouldn't even know what her new teammate would be drinking that morning. "Another cappuccino, please."

'I can't go wrong with a cappuccino, I hope. I can't very well show up without something,' it popped into her head as she waited for her order.

Today the bakery was busier than usual and as Megan's gaze slid to the clock on the wall behind the counter, she noticed that she was late by her standards.

As she paid and left the bakery in a hurry, she tripped over the edge of the sidewalk after crossing the street.

Although she had caught herself immediately, she had still managed to get some of the coffee on her white blouse and her chest was now adorned with a huge coffee stain.

"Shit! This could only happen to me," she cursed to herself as she made the last few feet to the main entrance.

"Good morning Ms. Dove," the security guard at the metal detector greeted her in a friendly manner.

John was an older gentleman around sixty who, no matter how crappy her day was, always brought a smile to her lips.

He was the typical old man that everyone just liked and was something of a father figure to one.

"Good morning John, good to see you."

After a short small talk during which Megan put away all her personal belongings and they and she were checked, she had to take the elevator to the third floor where her department was located.

Exiting the elevator, one stood in a huge room that resembled a waiting room in a hospital, with several hallways leading to the shared offices of each team.

Megan's office was easy to find, it was immediately the first one across from the elevator and even though the shutters were rolled down on the windows leading into the waiting room, she could already see Lexie's long blonde hair.

Usually Megan was always the first one in the office and was already waiting there with the goodies for the others and she could only guess that the others were already impatiently waiting for her.

Megan put on a big smile and entered the shared office.

"Good morning ... What the hell?" she snapped as she caught sight of her desk and saw that someone was obviously rummaging around there.

"Morning Megan, this is ..."

"That's 'Mister, I'm not watching where I'm running.' What the hell do you think you're doing?", Megan interrupted her colleague Lexie.

Already at Megan's 'what the hell' he had turned to her and he too recognized the little woman from the club.

"All I needed was a pen. Mine doesn't work anymore 'Miss I'm only 4.9 feet and have an ego of five men' so calm down" convulsively he tried to restrain the tone in his voice, but he just couldn't stand her behavior.
